I had a clear idea of my main characters but wasn't sure how to explain the visual details. The illustrator asked thoughtful questions and provided rough sketches before starting the finished artwork. That was useful because one character didn't look the age I had imagined, and we were able to correct it early. One complicated illustration took longer than planned because we had to leave room for the text. I didn't mind the delay much because the final composition works well. read full review »
