Citimortgage is requiring me to carry flood insurance 4x's the amount of the remaining balance of the mortgage, which is 4x's over what is required by federal law. The loan document generically says they require flood insurance, but doesn't say the amount - so there was no way to know that they would require more than what federal law requires. The additional insurance will cost me over $1k/year, which amounts to $28k over the remaining life of the loan.
