Cyfair Federal Credit Union
John Doe April 5, 2011
I am banking with Cyfair federal Credit Union for over a year. Most of my banking I do over the internet. Today I tried to log in and was denied unless I signed a new very lengthy user agreement. "Just a formality" they told me. We all know, there is no such thing as a formality when it comes to a contract. I actually read the document and found a paragraph on "aggregation". In plain English, this means that other banks and institutions can access my bank account to their hearts desire. The document specifically states, that... read full review »

PeopleSmart

I was searching for an address of a friend of mine. On the internet I found Peoplesmart... this is an information company. You can be come a member for ~$40 or get a single address for $1.95. I used paypal to pay $1.95 for a single search only. Their web site clearly said: Don't want to become a member... That's okay. You can view the results ... by purchasing a one time report. One week later they charged me ~$40 via my Paypal account. I always thought, that someone needed my password to authorize a payment with paypal... read full review »

Geeks.com
John Doe September 15, 2010
A few days ago I bought two USB PC to PC cables. They are used to transfer data from one computer to another. On the internet I found geeks.com. Since most of computer related products do not work properly, I bought two different devices... hoping that one of them works. If this would have been the case, I would not waste my time telling you my story. Anyway, both devices do not work... not on XP and not on Vista, They do not work on 3 different laptops and 2 desktops I tried. One device (BAFO BF-7313) suppose to come with a install CD... read full review »

Inteligator.com

I logged in on www.govssnrecords.org and provided my password and my SSN. Then I was asked to pay 24.92 So I thought... well... nothing is for free. Then I suddenly realized that I was transferred to "inteligator.com"... then they asked me for money again... 2.95 for a 4 day trial and 19.95 if I don't cancel. So I paid 2.95. I needed to do a criminal background check and was asked another 29.95. I don't mind paying for something, but I would like to know the odds before I start. Obviously I canceled everything... read full review »

McAffee
John Doe April 16, 2010
I received an email from McAffee informing me, that my Anti Virus software will be automatically renewed within the next 30 days. The fact is, I do not have any McAffee on my computer since 2007. Fortunately I managed to log into their web-site and found my account from 2007. Fortunately they allowed me to "switch off" the automatic renewal. The problem however is, that this took me 30 minutes to do. I protest the fact that there is no function, to remove myself from their data base. Also they kept my CreditCard information. If... read full review »

XM Brands

I responded to a report on Yahoo... teeth whitening. Try our promotional offer, just pay shipping. Naive as I am I ordered the stuff using my credit card. Anyway I thought I simply cancel if the stuff does not work. However the stuff did not arrive until after the 2 week cancellation time. I did not realize that the clock starts ticking from the day I order. After all it is a promotional offer. If the stuff works, people will beat a path to their door... Then canceling is a hassle too. Instead of canceling when I called them, I get a number... read full review »

Bank of America

I have always paid my bills. Now I am getting a bit old and I do forget. I did all my financial business with BOA... ALL. For years I tried to arrange that my credit card is paid on the due date with funds from my checking account. I talked to a personal banker and tried on the internet. I can set up a procedure that $15 is paid automatically every month, but this does not avoid the interest charges when I forget to pay on time. Over the years I had to pay hundreds of dollars for various late charges. This is despite the fact that I keep... read full review »
