Beware the Wal-Mart Visa gift card. My wife was given such a card with $25 prepaid for mother's day. To spend the $25 she is required to activate the card. To activate the card she is required to give away her personal information, such as her Social Security number. Why? She does not wish to disclose her information for just any request. The money is already on the card but she cannot access it. Such a situation should be regarded as fraud or theft. Beware!
