I did the financially responsible thing and bought a car with cash from a private seller who unfortunately had a loan from Chase Bank. I met her at the bank on May 15 and paid off her loan with cash. The bank representative converted it to a cashier's check, said it would be forwarded to the loan department and I would receive (with their customer's permission of course) the release of lien within 6 days.
