We called Wells Fargo Home mortgage to see what kind of financing might be available to us given that my employer was willing to offer downpayment assistance in the form of an equity sharing arrangement. Their lender's rep advised us to go with and FHA loan and gave me a Gift Letter for my employer to sign. My employer checked this out with legal counsel and was told that in no universe can an equity share be considered a gift.
