A young man came to my door telling me he was selling magazine subscriptions for a program that helped underprivileged kids stay out of trouble and earn points to travel. He also told me that the cost for the magazine subscription was tax deductible, but that the $15 fee for processing and handling went toward their trip, so it was not tax deductible. Then, when you seem interested, they try VERY hard to get you to pay in cash, but they will accept a check.
