My son has a private loan through Sallie Mae and was diagnosed with Cancer 3 years ago. He was not able to pay on his loan because of being in the hospital and Sallie Mae's collection people were calling him at the hospital while he was going through Chemotherapy and demanding that he pay them! I was appalled at that, I told them not to call him because he was fighting for his life and they could care less. And to this day, they will not work with him to pay on his loans.
