I went to the Microsoft Support web page to get help with an update that wiped out my second monitor and totally screwed up my primary monitor (set it to 800 X 600 on a 24" High Def monitor). After dealing with a level 1 person who didn't really help at all, I had to wait for a "technician" to call me. They called and spoke to me as if I was a complete novice using a PC (been using one since 1983). Then they told me that "many softwares do damage to the computer registry in Windows".
