Consumers Beware! In June 2007, I moved from apartment to another in the same city where I live. Before moving I called AT&T to let them know I was moving and that I wanted my number transferred to the new place. They checked to see if that was possible, and told me that they could not transfer the same number to a different area, and therefore I needed to pay up what was outstanding on my bill in order to get a new service at the new apartment.
