I am fairly new to my neighborhood. A young man came to my door collecting money for magazines and told me a percentage of the proceeds would go to an organization to help the troops. He also mentioned how some of my neighbors and also given very large amounts of money to help this organization. After writing a small check I found out this organization is a total scam.
