I was hired with the understanding that I would be working specifically with the developmentally disabled and making between $11-$15 an hour, and not have to drive an hour out of my way to get to my client. Lo and behold, my first client was an hour out of the way, a very sweet lady who had NOTHING nice to say about her previous caregivers (who forced her to spend her own money on them and borrow her car!) and my pay for working with a senior was a little over minimum wage.
