I had been a member of Gold's Gym for 4 years paying an annual fee upfront to reduce the cost of membership. Then they came out with the $19.95 a month plan. You pay a around $300 up front but then $20 forever after that. I plan on being an active gym member for the rest of my life so this plan made sense especially since 24hour Fitness has a similar plan.
