I, like many consumers, ran into financial difficulty a few years back, and fell way behind on my HSBC credit card payments. After a few months I received a notice, HSBC would settle for and amount below the balance. I called, arranged a payment plan, and paid off the total in August. Despite this I constantly receive notices stating I am overdue, or offering a "settlement."
