I joined Fitness Edge and asked if there were any penalties/difficulties cancelling the gym if I did not use it. I was told no. Months later after little use I called to cancal my membership - I had to contact ABC financial the billing agency. They would not let me cancel over the phone - I had to send a certified letter. I did this April 2nd and was then still billed for my April month's membership plus an additional April 1st $40 for yearly enhancements to the club. I paid the month of April however I called and asked them to waive the $40 in a yearly enhancement fee as I will no longer be using the club. They refused and said it is in the fine print of my agreement that I agree to pay a yearly upgrade fee for the club. This is ridiculous, I am already paying for a month I can't use and now a yearly upgrade. The contract does not say I need to pay that even if I cancel. This service is unbelieveable. They said they will start calling me with collecttions calls - and will not let me cancel my membership. I already receive automated calls about this but I am so angry I refuse to pay. Think twice before joining Stamford Fitness Edge - if you cancel you will pay for it in tons of aggravation. I am ogin in the club to complain and tellin everyone in my neighborhood to beware - don't sign up - if you change your mind they will charge you everythin they can before you leave.
