Through their use of Ameriquest Mortgage (now bankrupt) I was charmed into a loan that I did not understand at the time. I feel taken advantage of and know that if I understood then what I do now, I would never have signed the paperwork. I have made almost $80, 000 worth of payments on a $100, 000 loan, and my principle has only come down $5, 000! My interest rate is a whopping 7.9%! Now no one will lend so that I can refinance into a lower rate. If I would have understood that I was expected to pay $284, 000 on a $100, 000 loan, I would have told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. They were well aware of the fact that I was a first-time home buyer then too. They cashed in on my known inexperience. I am pissed. It took me a long time to even learn the name of the actual lender. I always thought that Ameriquest was the lender, but they were just the broker and servicer.
