How BoA steels from its customers
I requested a balance transfer ($10, 000.00) at a rate of about 8% interest with an additional $300.00 one time fee (which was made while I was on the phone with the rep). After 3 months, we realize that there was a problem. After paying 3 times $200.00, (min payment required was about $165.00) my balance was out of whack, and after looking into it, they showed additional fees (ex: payment less then minimum required, etc) and min payment required jumped up to just bellow $500.00. BIG SHOCK! I'm never late and have not missed any payments.

Bank of America explained that the transfer was accidentally made at a cash purchase rate of over 19%. They told me they would fix it right away: if I would pay back the total amount, so they could reverse the transaction... they would then re-transfer the amount back to my account at the rate initially agreed to, and refund ALL the fees.

So, I agreed. While still on the phone with a rep, I transferred money from my savings account to make-up for the difference, then paid back the total balance, about $10400.00+ right away. The rep advised that as soon as the card is reset to zero, the $10, 000.00 will then be transferred back to my account at the agreed 8% rate + $300.00 fee.

The next day, they called me and told me they were not going to approve the transfer anymore. They did refund the $300.00 initial fee, but kept my 3 payments of $200.00 plus another $100.00 or so of interest.

In return... I did not have the money I needed back on my account, it cost me over $700.00 and to top it off... I was advised that my credit line of $20, 000.00 would dramatically be adjusted since the rep thought it was inappropriate and too high to begin with (even though I never had a late or missed payment).

I guess no good deed remains unpunished... this is BoA's way to help boost the economy! Uncool!

They must have run my credit report at least 3 times in less then a week. I bet this won't improve my outstanding credit score either.

Scam charges
Bank of america is not a bank that looks out for the consumers best interest. They will find any way that they can to take money out of your account without permission and any notification. I opened my account over 4 years ago with Bank of ameica. They never onced charged me a monthly maintenance fee. All of the sudden they decided to start charging me a fee for the 1st to months they charged me $5.95. This month they decided that they needed more money and raised the fee to $8.95 per month. I was not notifed in any way that one- they were going to charge me a fee and two- that once they started charging me a fee that they were going to increase the amount that they were charging. I will be closing this account and I suggest that if you want to work with a ETHICAL BANK, DON'T BANK WITH BANK OF AMERICA!!!

Scam charges
Bank of America is by far the most crooked bank I have ever dealt with. I opened an account to take advantage of the Keep the Change program they offer. It was the biggest mistake I could've made. First they have a system in place that is so deceptive. I was never really ever technically overdrawn.

However the way they have everything set up they first recharge every authorization before posting the ones that have cleared. They of course go by the highest amount first and they even charge overdraft if they cant transfer money for the keep the change program. I was charged numerous $35 fees for them to transfer pennies from one account to another.

I never went into the negative at all. I also had a savings account with them along with two checking accounts and there was enough money in all of them to cover any charges. It all came down to using their debit card.

It's all predatory and deceptive practices and after reading other people going through the same thing I took action. I filed a small claims suit against them for $2956.00.

I would have thought this would get their attention. I was contacted by a rep from their legal department. She tells me she is going to research it and get back to me. Well she never did. I showed up to court and they didnt and they were properly notified.

The judge couldn't believe a bank could charge that much in fees until I showed her my statements. One month the total alone was $1100. Well once I got my judgement I tried to contact their legal department and you cant. They dont give out that number if you call any branch or toll free customer service number.

Well today again fed up with everything I searched again and came across the CEO's executive customer relations number 704... The women was friendly which was suprising and she took down my info and said an investigator would call me once they researched it. Well not even 20 minutes after that call I get a call from the same women from the legal department in Tampa.

She said she was finally done with her research and wanted to talk to me about settling the case. I told her I already got a judgement I want paid. She argued and said they would fight it. I said go ahead and asked why no one showed up and why so late calling me back. She didnt have an answer. I even agreed to settle for $500 less and she said no they are going to fight it.

Well I live in Ohio and any corporation would have to hire a lawyer to represent them. I am calling her bluff. They are not going to pay a lawyer to fight when they dont have a chance to win but thats what she told me.

So furious with the phone call afterwards I immediately went online and filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office, the Federal Reserve Consumer Help Dept, and the Comptroller of the Currency Administrator of National Banks. I wish I was an attorney I would get a class action suit against them.

I now plan on enforcing my judgement which means that any assets owned in the State of Ohio by Bank of America is subject to seizure and garnishment. They have 15 days to respond before they have to again appear in court for a hearing. I am kinda excited that I fought back and I would suggest anyone else do the same. It cost me $49 to file the suit and whether I collect or not I know I didn't just bend over and take it.

I DID NO SING UP FOR THIS PROTECTION SERVICE
I OPEN A, ACCOUNT WITH BANK OF AMERICA AND PUT $20.00 IN THE ACCOUNT. I SENT $15.00 OUT OF MY ACCOUNT WITH MY ATM CARD, IT IS SHOWING THAT ON MY ACCOUNT. THEN I LOOKED AT MY ACCOUNT ON-LINE AND I HAD ALL OF THESE OVERDRAFT FEE'S, FOR A PROGRAM THE BANK SAID I SINGED UP WHICH I HAVEN'T. THIS PROTECTION PROGRAM I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR COST $38.98 WHICH WASN'T IN MY ACCOUNT AT THE TIME. THE BANK CHARGED ME FOR THE PROGRAM AND ALSO STARTED CHARGING ME OVERDRAFT FEE'S OF $35.00 EACH ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE PROGRAM, I HAVE 3 OVERDRAFT FEE'S OF 35.00 FOR THE SAME PRODUCT I DIDN'T ORDER. THEN I APPLY FOR A PAYDAY LOAN AND THE BANK TOOK THE MONEY AND PAYED THE OVERDRAFT FEE'S WITH IT, WHICH HAVE MY ACCOUNT AT 0.00 I NEED HELP.

Zero Liability Fraud Protection
Our bank of america credit card number had to be changed about the first week of January 2009. He carries his card in his wallet and has not lost it. I had my card in my desk at home. We do not receive paper statements. So how did someone get the account number and try to book airline tickets??

I noticed the pending charge on 6/15 and called bank of america right away. They connected me to NWA since they (bank of america) couldn't do anything about a pending charge. I had to email NWA that I didn't authorize the passenger and they suspended the customer's ticket, BUT said I'd have to contest the charge with my credit card company (WHAT??). On 6/16, there was another pending charge, so I again contacted NWA and bank of america. NWA did not get back to me for 4 hours and allowed the passenger to fly (different name). I also contacted bank of america around 7am to cancel the card and reissue another new number.

Bank of America assured me that the 2 charges (over $600) would be off the account by the end of the next business day. Well, that didn't happen. I waited a couple days and called again. They "weren't sure" why the charges weren't removed, but assured me they would issue a credit and the charges would be off by Wednesday. Today is Wednesday and the charges are still there.

They keep trying to sell a service where you pay them to monitor your account. "Coincidentally" they called about it a few days before the fraudulent charges appeared AND the same day as the first charge appeared about two different programs (both of the programs we had already declined to be enrolled in within the last 6 months).

The card is a Platinum Plus with Zero Liability Fraud Protection that does NOT require enrollment in any programs. Why don't they just do their job? Now I have to call the fraud department AGAIN, but they aren't open until 8AM...

Overdraft charges
Grrr... I realize I am a small fish in the sea of BOA customers, but I still count. I made a mistake and overdrew my account by paying bills online. A mistake that cost BOA $8 of their money. Inturn and in their transaction process they managed to charged me $140 for the use of their $8. What's the APR on that? The government can step in and regulate everything but cannot keep them from robbing me. This is highway robbery when I, in good faith, called immediately and deposited money into the account.

I am a single mother of two children, have 2 Bachelors Degrees, and am unemployed. If BOA wanted to help in this environment we are in (afterall their were made whole within 24 hours), they could have waived atleast some of the charges. Instead, they continued to charge me more. Their Wizard of OZ behind their red curtain is extremely insulting and uncompasionate. Even their brach managers are drones to the Wizard. The cost of their profits far outways any benefits BOA could offer - to the banking customer. Welcome to Big Business in Big America. I think I will forfeit my human equity and stay home on welfare, enjoy twitter, facebook, childcare, and cable. I think their tax obligation on my contribution to their profits will buy my groceries, healthcare, and student loans.

breach of contract
I am listed as a co-signer on a Gold Option Line of Credit. I was unknowledgeable and unconsenting to the Terms of Agreement. I requested a copy of the original application which contains no signature. I have even filled out a non-responsible form with the primary and was denied. I have submitted disputes with the credit bureaus, ftc and the occ.

New ATM's
This is the second time I used the Bank of America new ATM's and had a horrible experience. I went to despoist $450.00 cash and it only took $300.00 of it at first and spit back $150.00. I put the $150.00 back into it and it took the $50.00 and spit back $100.00 advising it was crinkled. It was a new $100.00 bill. It really didn't need to be straitened out, but I rubbed it flat anyway and put it back in. It spit it back out again. I tried this 4 more times with no success, so I figured maybe it was just the ATM, so I went to the ATM next to it after waiting several minutes to complete the transaction. That ATM did the same thing. I tried it several times there with the same results. I then just gave up. It is a good $100.00 bill? These machines are horrible and very time consuming. I don't think it was a smart move on Bank of America. I get off at 6PM from work, so I don't have time to go into a branch. The old machines worked much better. Please give us our old machines back or make something better.

Abuses and threats by Bank of America
I called BO, automatic system on 06/15/09, I was informed I had $280 avail balance. I used my ATM card for $7.00 for fed-ex and $8.00 for CVS. I was shocked to find out the next day I was charged for $35.00 overdraft fee five times. Because their online payment did not clear my payment for $260 on 06/01/09, which I had assumed it had, because their system misguided me. When I asked why I was given wrong information when I called, I was told their system doesn't know these things accurately all the time. I asked why my charges were approved if I did not have enough funds. Kevin the supervisor sarcasticly answered. "We did you a favor, you should appreciate us! why are you complaining? Don't you know how to be greateful? " Isn't that a rude answer? How is that a favor? You charged me for $185 for $7.00 and $8.00 charge? You failed to give me the correct information! They even mentioned they used to withdraw the funds immediately, but changed that 3 months ago, now wait until the companies cash the checks. They never sent me an info about it! I said ok then, you should have declined the $260 because they decided to cash it more than 2 weeks later. And that I did not even dispute the over draft fee, but 5 of them were not accurate. If you cleared the 260 and charged me overdraft fees for the other charges, that is fine. Or if I did not have 260 because of the $7 and $8 before $260 was cleared, then you charge me overdraft fee for $260.00. But how can you charge me for all of them and more after you keep billing me overdraft charges? They even charged me the fifth overdraft fee because of the fourth overdraft fee they billed me! No reason given, instead, I was yelled at "Look, take us to court if you want, I will even send your term of aggrement to your lawyer! That will be easier for you!" I said I would never use BO again and will open another bank account. Kevin threatened me laughing "We will come after you until we get our over draft payments and make sure your credit is destroyed." My request for the corporation, ceo information was declined. Higher manager was declined, I sent e-mail complaint, that was not responded. Did the congress use our tax dollars to bail out BO so they can use it to train their supervisors to be abusive to their long-time customers? I have been their customer for 10 years.

Privacy Assist Scam
**DON"T BANK WITH BANK OF AMERICA!!!** I am writing this to inform EVERYONE - DON'T Bank with BoA! I am on my elderly father's accounts and recently I was checking something in the account when I came across $12.99 debit that stated "Privacy Assist Bank of America". I found this odd so I researched the past statements and found that it started in March 2009 at $12.99 every month. I know my dad didn't enroll in this, so I printed it out and gave it to him to go to the bank the next morning! He went there alright and was told by an EMPLOYEE " Someone tampered with your account" Yes, someone did tamper with the account- Bank of America tampered with the account! Later my dad told me what happened and I have never seen him this mad. He stated that he was going to close his account (an account he had since 2 banks before BoA took over). I went with him the next day to a different branch to close the accounts. That is when I learned that my dad was NOT refunded for the money they ILLEGALLY took out of his account. I had to ask for the refund and even then the banker seemed like he didn't want to help. He told us "that's a different department" As if I care that it's a different dept! Longer story short - Privacy Assist didn't want to refund all of the money. They told my dad "we did a service so we can't refund all of it". Well, I got on the phone and asked for a supervisor, but they wouldn't talk to me. So I told them "that's fine, but here's what I want to know..Why did you take the money that you had no authority to take? And what do you mean you won't give a full refund? What you did was illegal and I want the money back." Within minutes, they had agreed to give the full refund back. Do you think it ends there? NOPE! The banker told me that they would give the full amount back but it takes 7 - 10 DAYS to get the refund and the account has to be re-opened!! I agreed to that only because I wanted that refund. But have they never heard of electronic deposits? So they can electronically TAKE money without permission but they CAN'T electronically DEPOSIT they money back that they should never have taken! Also, why does the account have to be open? Mail a check - you are a bank - MAIL A CHECK!!
I think that BoA targets SENIOR CITIZENS by enrolling them fraudulantly in the Privact Assist. I think this because both my sister and I have checking accounts and neither one of us were "automatically enrolled" in Privacy Assist. Plus, I asked several times "How did this happen? How was my dad enrolled in this?" And every time I asked I was told a different answer. Some of the answers were "When your dad activated the debit card - that would activate it." Really - because if they had checked his record - he DOESN'T have a debit card and never had one!
Bank of America rips off their customers with the Privacy Assist! They DIDN'T give the refund that they said they would and when I called today I was given the run around again ! I get more running done when dealing with them that I do on a treadmill!! HA HA~ But seriously - BoA has NO RIGHT to have taken that money, NO RIGHT to have enrolled him in anything with his knowledge and approval, and most of all - they have NO RIGHT to take 7 - 10 days to refund what they took electronically and then they didn't even refund the full amount!!
Bottom line - DON'T BANK WITH BANK OF AMERICA!
