A warning to anyone using Canterbury Termite and Pest Control or any company that requires access to your home by the landlord because they cannot give you a time (other than a 4-5 hr span) when they will arrive. I thought these companies were bonded and insured and I could trust that nothing would be "missing" when I returned. In trying to eliminate rats from the attic they came twice a week for over 6 weeks. During that time no one else was in my home and no one other than my landlord has a key. Just before they completed the job I noticed SIX pieces of jewelry were missing --- not mis-placed -- but gone from my jewelry box. The owner refused to believe anyone in his company could be responsible. The total loss was nearly $3, 000. I reported it as a theft to the police who came and took a report calling it an "opportunistic theft" since other valuable items were not taken and there was no evidence of break-in. The owner offered nothing other than a letter from his attorney "strongly advising" me to refrain from reporting this on the Internet. As for their work, it was barely acceptable. Workers left a filthy mess and took far too long to correct the problem.
