Chase Bank Reviews

Chase merged my account with my ex-boyfriend's!
Over 15 years ago I had a Chase money market/credit card account. It was a joint account with my boyfriend at the time. We split up in 1994, at which point I opened my own account at Great Western Bank and took my name off of the joint Chase account. Great Western became Wamu, and my Great Western checking account became a Wamu checking account.

Then in 2009, when Chase took over Wamu, my Wamu checking account became a Chase checking account. In about March of 2010 I started receiving email addressed to my ex-boyfriend at my own email account. In other words, I started receiving email from Chase addressed to a man I hadn't lived with in over 15 years! I went online and noticed a credit card account that I'd never seen before! I called Chase and they told me it was a credit card in my ex's name. They told me they couldn't cancel the credit card because I was not the primary account holder. They would not let me take my name off of the account myself and instead sent me a form that they required my ex to fill out.

My ex contacted them and they told him they'd already closed the credit card account per my request (although they had not told ME they'd closed the account). At about this time I started to received hardcopy mail addressed to my ex at my own house, where my ex had never lived! One letter contained two new Chase credit cards, one with my name on it and one with his name. My online sessions still showed the "canceled" credit card account as one of my active accounts. I also started getting junk mail addressed to my ex -- Amex solicitations and such. I called and emailed Chase to tell them that something must have corrupted the data for my account when they took over Wamu, but the Chase reps I talked to said that couldn't have happened.

Meanwhile, I'd been using Wamu's online bill-pay, which of course turned into Chase's online bill-pay. Yesterday I was contacted by one of my payees, who told me the check he received had my name and a suspicious address printed on it. Guess what? It was my ex's current house address!!! Apparently, the bill-pay checks that my payees have been receiving since Chase took over Wamu have all had my ex-boyfriend's address printed on them!

Today I got off the phone with a Chase rep who said they will research my bill-pay payments and send me a list of payees who received checks with invalid addresses. (I could research that myself online, but it would require about 5 clicks per check to see what addressed was printed on them.) Now I am going to have to contact each of those payees to make sure they haven't updated their records and replaced my house address with my ex's, and that they haven't been sending my bills to my ex's house.

Excessive Credit Card Limit Decreases
I hold 4 credit cards with Chase. 2 started out with Providian, which was later bought out by Chase. Of course, I had balances before the takeover. My credit limits were initially dropped shortly after takeover (1+ year ago) but I did not complain. Today takes the cake - I received notification from Chase (4 separate notices) that they have halved in some cases my credit lines, putting my new credit line only hundreds of dollars away from my current balances. My minimum payments ALONE will put me OVER the limit in a matter of a month or two. I have ALWAYS paid all 4 accounts on time, and ALWAYS pay substantially above the minimum payment. Not to mention that my credit is going to take an immediate and MASSIVE nosedive due to my new balance vs. credit line. This is predatory and unconscionable behavior. Believe me, they are making a FORTUNE off of me just based on my revolving balances alone. By this move they have done, they are going to send me into financial RUIN within a matter of a month or two. My accounts are not now (or ever) in default - there is no reason to do such a substantial reduction in my credit lines - especially all 4 at once. Apparently they do not value me as a longstanding customer. This is ridiculous and shows how little this bank truly cares for its customers. I am appalled at this move on the bank's part. Here is an outline of the credit line cuts:
Account 1: My current balance is 3942.02 - they cut my limit from 11, 600 to 4, 900. 8 days ago, I had $7607 available credit. Now, with no notice, I have 641!
Account 2: My current balance is 5004.12 - they cut my limit from 8, 100 to 5, 700. 13 days ago, I had $2905 available credit, now with no notice, I have $658!
Account 3: My current balance is 2761.89 - they cut my limit from 5, 800 to 3, 300. 13 days ago I had $2888 available credit, now with no notice, I have $538!
Account 4: My current balance is 2258.86 - they cut my limit from 5, 000 to 2, 900. 8 days ago, I had $2, 466 available credit, now with no notice, I have $641!

How is it that I, as a longstanding customer who pays on time and always ABOVE my minimum, and that this company certainly makes a TON of money in finance charges, is able to take my credit and TRASH IT with no notice. As I stated earlier, my minimum payments ALONE becoming due are going to send me OVER MY NEW CREDIT LIMITS within a matter of a month or two. This is unfair treatment by a bank that is clearly BULLYING its customers.

Check cashing policy
I am registering this complaint due to the fact that I recieved a pell grant check recently from my university. The check was drawn on Chase Bank. The amount is irrelevent. The situation is as follows. Walked into the Merced branch of the bank fully expecting to be able to cah a check drawn on the financial institution. Although pleasant the teller informed me that I would not be able to cash the check due to the fact that I had for ID was my valid California drivers liscense and my Social Security card. I am an intellegent man and understand the fact that they need to be careful, but as I had all valid ID and all paperwork from my university surrounding the circumstances of this check, not to mention the fact it was drawn on their bank. They could not honor the check as I did not have a bank card or someother form of identification. I requested to speak to the branch manager, who went over my options, to no avail. I explained that I am a student, albeit 52 years old that rents a room from folks, and does not have any utilities or any other form of ID other than what has traditionaly been acceptable. Then the manager went on to inform me that if I was 55 years of age, they could cash the check for me as their "senior citizen" policy. Thsi appalled me. What kind of financial institution can refuse to cash a vaild check from a reputable source, drawn on their bank, and make a different policy for ID, based on a variable of three years of age. I even offered to allow them to speak to my student counselor, as she could have easily gave them even further verification. They politely refused that option. I am here today to simply inform people that this bank is not a "people" institution. The one thing I did promise the branch manager in a polite fashion, was that I would recommend not using them for the duration, and that I would complain via the web, as I see many others have as well. Ban Chase Bank.

30% Interest Credit Card
Yesterday, I found all my business and personal bank accounts levied to zero by Chase Bank. I have never been able to negotiate any plan with this bank and have been harrassed by phone, 'their taking everything I own'. I was never served notice of any kind. This is $16k of which half is interest. I face the same fate as many Americans and lost work and business. I hope that this will warn anyone with credit cards with Chase Bank that without proper legal action and serving notice, Chase Bank will clean all of your bank accounts. Even your joint kid's accounts. Chase Bank... Real Bastards.

They feel that my business is not important to them
For the first time in 5 years I was one day late with my Chase Continental Master Card payment, I admit that it was my error, but considering they are charging outrageous interest rates and they were kept in existence by a bailout, I feel that they should be willing to waive that one $39 late fee. The representative was quite matter of fact when she said that they do not negotiate fees, I said fine, please close the account and she did so without argument. The funny part to me is the fact that the entire conversation lasted less than a minute. That makes it obvious to me that they feel that my business is not important to them. Maybe I should look to re do my car loan with someone else? I think that we are well past the time to break all of the big banks up and take us back to the time when banks were all local state banks.

Discrimination
I have been a loyal Chase bank customer for many years. On June 8th, 2010 I went to the Sheepshead bay branch to deposit a check written to my name Joyce Liao. The teller, Maryana Grattan indicated that she felt that there was a problem with the check because I have a Chinese name. Instead of discussing the problem with me she refused to serve me and asked me to leave the bank or she would call security. I asked to talk to the manager and she said that she was the manager. I asked another employee, Demitry Komarovsy, for her name. He responded by grabbing a piece of paper that that I was holding in my hand. I later through the Branch Manager Jason Casal I found out that my account has been closed by the security department without my permission.

Many times in Chase Branches in Sheepshead Bay I have experienced rude service and have had people complain to me while I was shockingly mistreated by employees of your bank. I feel that I have been treated unjustly and insulted by Chase Bank employees Maryana Grattan and Demitry Komarovsy at the Sheepshead Bay Branch. A lady, Sophia Heisley - who was a customer and who witnessed how I was mistreated at the time - told me that she had just filed a complaint for the poor service she received from the Chase Bank a couple weeks ago and would be willing to be my witness, when I file my complaint. I would like to know what Chase Bank will do to improve the service at the Sheepshead branch.

This is the most ridiculous online payment system I have ever experienced in my entire life
JPMorgan Chase Bank 's Jamie Dimon forces employees to lobby against financial consumer protection. Imagine that. http://bit.ly/9drLJ4 they are invested in Derivatives, so the bank is in TROUBLE! That's why WE, the customers, have to PAY for HIS Corrupt decisions!

It's time for the American People to see that this man is thrown out of his job. This bank is robbing people, lying about what they do, stealing money from customers, and NOT providing the customer service they SHOULD be, for all THOSE EXTRA FEES they charge!

When a site is constantly down, like it was this morning, at 7 am on Sunday, when I want to pay my bills, I was unable to access either of my 2 credit card information balances, to pay or look at them, or even see what bills I had, they were not usable. I was instructed to call CHASE BANK on the phone. I pay extra for THIS? Then, I continue to get LATE, mean, and RUDE responses to the SAME issue that I continue to point out regarding my mortgage payment being processed on the same damn site, and their stupid employees unable to see or do "any work of any kind". I have to email these idiots 5 days in advance and continue to do so every single day, harassing them to REMIND THEM to process my mortgage payment that was SCHEDULED on their site, and SITTING there, waiting to be processed! IDIOTS!!If I don't do this, they will allow my money to just sit in the bank, and they will continue to ignore my online scheduled payment that I placed, and has been sitting there for WEEKS! I Kid you NOT!! That is how completely incompetent this site and this bank has become!

Now, here on measured up, do you think they respond? of course not! I told them I am ruining their reputation here, they don't even care!

I am now at the point of cursing at them in emails, and getting canned responses, and I have told them I am going to "trash" Jamie Dimon on twitter continuously, just to see if I get a rise out of them..

This is the most ridiculous online payment system I have ever experienced in my entire life! OMG!!LOL!It's a joke!

They can close your checking account without any notification ahead of time
Ok, I dont my objective to be expecting 100% perfection from banks and other places, but the way they do things at Chase dont make alot of sense. Ok, Im standing in line one day, ready to make a deposit, when one of the clerks has a disabled customer read either social security number or account number out loud where the whole bank can hear them. You know how dangerous and risky that is to your personal idenity? Alot of things didnt make sense. They dont pay close attention to what they're doing. They also close your checking account without any notification ahead of time.

credit card
We are very dissatisfied with Chase, We apply for a card from amazon.com and never sent the statement, We called many time to amazon about the statement, but they do not know any about my orders and my statement. Now Chase sent me a letter to pay them exorbitant interest and payments. Now Chase is bothering to telephone all the time for us to pay. I never applied to Chase credit card. I applied to amazon, this situation is horrible, I want to pay, but I do not need to pay the interest that has been generated by the irresponsibility of chase.

Unfair Charges
My credit card was not honored at Shoprite, so I called up Chase and they told me, I did not make my paymenton my last bill. I told the rep I had not received my bill, so he checked his records and admitted they did not have the complete address and the bill was sent back to them and for which he waived the intrest charges. I asked him how much was my total invoice for, he told me it was $73.00. I gave the rep my bank routing and paid off the bill immediately.

This month we get another bill with the finance charge of $31.89, I called Chase up to check the reason for the intrest charge, they advised us the charge was for us not paying the full amount for month of may. I told the supervisor/Manager, I was informed the invoice amount was for $73 and I paid off immediately; had the rep been clear that $73 was minimum payment and the full amount was of a bigger value and still if we paid $73/- it is fine then, to bill me for the charge. However if I am told the invoice value is for $73/- how would I assume anything different.
I requested the supervisor to check my earlier record and also check the recording of my conversation with the earlier rep. However he refused to acknowledge my plead, leaving me no choice but to pay for a error by one of their employees who did not divulge proper information. The supervisor tried to con me into using up my points to pay out the charges, in other words he wanted to take out money from my right pocket to put it into the left pocket...very very unfair practise.
I have a excellent credit history and my payments are all done in full, I did not want that to be ruined; Today have also cancelled my account. Request please present our case to Chase to ensure they are fair in their dealings not only to me but to million of other users like us, who are billed for no reason and who do not voice it out.
