About a month ago, I was bombarded with pop-ups on my home PC from Cyber Security Anti-virus Software telling me I needed to renew my anti-virus program because viruses had been detected. What sucked me into the scam was that the "company" (now I know to be a very serious virus) had disguised itself as my actual anti-virus program, Mcfee. I got sick of seeing the pop-ups and figured I would just renew so that it would leave me alone. But after I foolishly gave my credit card info I did not receive the service I had paid for and immediately realized I was scammed. I called my credit card immediately to put a stop payment on the transaction, as it was still pending. I was assured that the payment had been stopped by Visa but I received my statement today and the charge had been put through. Visa says they "regrettably" misinformed me and I now have to pay the charge. I can't get a refund from kronossemarekt.com the company my payment went to. It is not even a legitimate website. So I am looking for someway to lodge a complaint and find some kind of justice for the average computer consumer.
