Poor service
On 10/4/2010 i was told that i would have service on the next day.In which hand i had gotten a confirmation e-mail saying that i would have serrvice between 8 - 12 on 10-5-2010.So me and my wife took off work to be here when the install was done so we could be here to learn about the dvr and everything else...

Now it is 1:20 on 10-5-2010 and still no dvr or sattelite tv.so in which hand we are not only out on the watching tv we are also out on 2 days of pay with a figure of 1200 dollars. Who is gonna pay for that??????. I feel sure direct tv wont. I am fitting to cancel this whole thing because some employee does'nt know how do there job...

Unauthorized use of debit card
I also had the problem of Direct TV using my debit card without my authorization in the amount of 188.78. i made a one time payment and made it very clear that it was only to be used that one time and then three months later i checked my bank account to find this transaction. when i called Direct TV they stated that they keep debit/credit card information on file and they have the right to use it whenever they want. This is not right and should not be allowed. Now i have to prove to my bank that i did not authorize the transaction.

Service
Stay with cable! Don't use this service.

1. The company messed up my order and delivered the wrong boxes.

2. Had to wait a week for the correct boxes, then they started my 2 year contract over again when my correct boxes were delivered...and, they didn't turn on the correct channels until I called them back twice.

3. The whole home DVR has yet to work properly. Each time I want to use it they have to reset it from the company's end...and the rep refers me to the forum website for assistance and sends me emails.

The entire service has been disappointing...going back to cable as soon as this contract expires.

poor customer sevice- promised dvr reciever
i was told by direct tv that i would recieve a free dvr reciever once i had direct tv for 12 months. they deny ever making any claim and require i pay $200.00 for the reciever. the manager -( sondra # 410964 ) actually was very rude and denied this request . she atcually cursed me on the phone and hung up in the middle of an hour and half conversation on the phone. im going to pursue this arguement in small claims court in asheville nc. thanks, chris wiggins

A past due amount/do not owe
I have been hit with a "past due" amount that I do not owe. I had a "bundle" with Direct TV/Verizen telephone service. Unknown to me, Verizen sold the telephone service to another corp, New Frontier. This made the bundle null and void. Verizen sent an amount owed to Direct TV that was paid...but did not credit Direct TV. Now, I am being told it must be paid or they will turn our service off. On Sept. 8, 2010, arrangements were made that I could make an $11.00 payment on the past due each month on top of the current amount owed. These arrangements are not being honored by Direct TV...I am on S.S. and can not afford to pay this whole amount up front. My contract is up with Direct TV next July, 2011. I will be canceling their service and warning any body that asks me about Direct TV and their less than honest business practice's. It is time we the people demand a new office of consumer affairs to rein in the "power over", greed orientated business practice's of so many corporations today. I had to do a Google search to find the address of the corporate office's...this is wrong!

customer service (lack of)
My DVR recently quit working. I am paying the 5.99 monthly maintainance plan. I was told I would get a home visit by a technician to replace. Then another person said "no", it had to be mailed and I could put the cables on by following the other one and mail the old one back (why am I paying them the 5.99 monthly for downtime and my own servicing??)

Anyway, I travel a long distance to go to work and pass through 3 states in my 100 mile travel so I decided to stop at the usual distribution center of FedEX that usually handles my shipments to my home. I was told by them that the DirectTV shipping department in PA uses a code that causes the equipment to travel a greater distance and literally bypasses my house to travel an extra 45-60 miles. They suggested I call Direct TV.

I tried explaing to 3 different "customer relations" specialist and a supervisor my concerns and asked to speak to the Lewisberry, PA shipping center. I was told no. When I explained the logistics of my concerns and that FEDEX suggested I contact them, the supervisor got angry, REFUSED TO GIVE HER NAME AND HUNG UP on me. She said she was "Carlos' supervisor" and that I had no right to complain as shipping was not their concern. AGain, I asked for her name and told her I could read the same tracking number on the computer screen, but I was giving her additional information from a FEDEX distribution center 14 miles from home. She continued to be angry and would not listen. Especially when I said that if DirectTV wasn't paying the extra routing, then maybe we could all save money. This customer service supervisor was smug and gave every indication that she didn't need my business and didn't care what I wanted to say or how I felt. She just kept saying it would be delivered within 3-5 days. She said she did not want to address the shipping and did not have to identify herself.

Lewisberry is a short ride from Harrisburg, PA (interstate 81 south). Hagerstown MD is approx 20 more miles south on same Interstate. This is the usual distribution center that delivers to my home in Martinsburg, WV (14 more miles south). However, for some reason, it was sent on to Winchester, VA (literally passing in front of my house) on Interstate 81 for another 25 miles. Somehow, it is supposed to be sent back up the same interstate (another 25 miles) within the next 24 hours. Why is it being routed through a State south of me???????

FedEX theorized Direct TV is putting the wrong coding for method of transportation so it bypassed a terminal that normally services my area.

With these kind of business practices (Inefficient), no wonder Direct TV rates are rising. To understand my concerns in a more simplier manner, draw a vertical line. Put the originating warehouse at the top. Put Winchester Va. at the bottom. Put Martinsburg in the middle. Then put a distribution center above Martinsburg, (Hagerstown, MD) and then wonder why they drive past that one, drive past Martinsburg and continue on down to the State of Virginia. Then find a truck to drive it back up the same line. Logical???

Yes, about as efficient as the customer service supervisor.

Dish Network is looking better and better, because at Direct TV, the customer is never right. Heck, they act as though they don't need the customer at all.

Was told one thing on the phone, bill said different, no-one cared.
Called up Direct TV to resolve a complaint. Had hours of conversation with customer service, finally received a resolution of my complaint from a supervisor, the company has no record of any of it. Called up again, was told I did not have grounds for the complaint and that there was no record that I had complained previously. Easily the third time I have tried to resolve a problem with the company, went through all the usual steps, then after I was told the problem was resolved, it wasn't and they expected me to cough up the $$$$.

Disconnecting
Left to Ny sue to an family emergeny. Come to realize whiloe i was away thyey disconnected my service stating that they wanted 2 months of payment upfront on top of all that the customer service was terrible. They talk to the customers with and attitude and are extremely disrfespectful. I would not suggest anyone to use their service you are better off with a regular cable box. They should hire more with people that know how to speak to their customers like supervisors or managers.
