service interruptions
Since I have changed from Comcast cable TV to Direct TV (satelite), I have had many
problems with the service. There are frequent interruptions in my reception. I have
had a technician out to try and correct the problem to no avail. Sometimes, the
tv picture will go out without any storms in the area or any high winds. If I had
anticipated the problems that I have had, I never would have changed fover from
cable tv service. The reason for changing was the considerable difference in price
between the two services. I can see know that saving the money wasn't worth the
aggravation that I have experienced. I would certainly not recommend Direct TV
to anyone who is considering their service.

mistakes by Direct TV
I used Direct TV for a couple of years, always paid my bills on time. In addition to the DVR and received I got from Direct TV, I bought a DVR from Costco myself. After the contract ends, I sent the DVR and receiver to Direct TV, excpet the one I bought. Direct TV has been asking me for the DVR since. I sent Direct TV sales receipt with no luck.
I finally called Costco and Costco told me to "return" the DVR to Costco (after tw years). Costco refunded me in full- not a cent less. I sent the refund receipt to Direct TV thinking that resolved the issue.
What did the Direct TV do? Direct TV sent me to collection. I have talked to Direct TV more than 10 times and could not get anywhere.
Direct TV has wasted enough of my time and did not really try to resolve the issue. I will spent more effort online to tell the bad behavior of a company than waste time with the company.

false advertising
Received a couple of fliers in the mail advertising what looked like pretty good deals. I called and talked to representative who assured me that we would receive at least the same channels we were getting from dish, along with some updated equipment.
Extremely confusing information regarding the 'rebates' that would be applied monthly. Refused to comply with their perk of another rebate offered for referral. Flier stated no fee for installment, yet we were billed for installment. After the installation, we began watching our 'new' channels only to find that we were not getting the same thing we had with dish. Stupid me, signed a two year required contract with this rip-off company. Reception is very poor, picture is frequently breaking up - which did not happen with dish. Looks like a long unhappy two year relationship with direct t.v. The cost to get out of the contract is horrendous!
Wise up folks - don't fall like we did for this phony 'good deal' you pay a pretty hefty price in the end.

TERRIBLE Customer Service and deceptive marketing
This is really bad. So bad, I'm going to stop paying my bill and fight the collection attempt. I signed up for Direct TV about six months ago. Their technician would not do the "Professional" installation the way I wanted. He showed up late, of course, and was in too big a hurry to mount it where everyone else on my street had it mounted. Instead he put it in the grass where the lawnmower guys can bump it and mangle the cords. What I didn't know then is that I had 90 days to complain about it or it would be my responsibility to get it fixed. Well, the other day the yard guys got it banged up enough that it needs fixing, and my call to Direct TV did not result in the outcome I desired. They said it was my responsibility to get it fixed, that I needed to log a complaint about it within 90 days of the installation if I wanted to have any hope of having them address it, and their tone also said I was kinda dumb for expecting them to fix it in the first place. I mentioned the installers un-professionalism and laziness, but they didn't give a whit. (Expletive traded for a kinder word, of course.) I asked politely to speak to a manager, got one, and he was just as unyielding. He eventually turned into a real jerk, not letting me finish sentences, complaining when I returned the disfavor, etc. So, now the World Cup round of 16 is on tomorrow, I have a long list of chores, and no device to play or record it. And I still have to pay for it. I LOATHE cable companies. Now I feel the same way about satellite. I'm off to the store to buy one of those KILL YOUR TELEVISION bumper stickers.

Scam
Direct TV screwed me.
I was getting a broken signal and no picture at all.
I called Direct TV and they sent out a team of two people to check my equipment which I owned. They said I should have an upgrade that was FREE.
They had me request authorization by phone; while, they were there.
The woman said the upgrade was FREE.
Upgrade was done and I purchased equipment protection insurance and got HD
capability.
When I got my bill, I was shocked.
They replaced my Direct TV purchased equipment and had installed leased equipment which I have to pay a fee on each month.
I tried to cancel and was told I could not; my system would be shut off and I would not get service on three of my four home receivers.
FREE ? Direct TV lied.

poor reception
I subscribed to Direct TV 10 month's ago with the assurance that the service had improved and there were hardly no more interucptions due to rain. The told me that you could get reception's even in A storm. Well guess what, Not true. Here in Louisiana at a certain time of the year it rains almost every day at the same time of day. and I can't watch every day about three PM. I can't get recpetion even if it don't rain when it gets cloudy picture goes out, serching error # 771.
I have called them until i am fed up. I wanted to get out of the contract and they want to charge me $20 a month for 13 months
for remaining time on contract.
IT'S A RIP OFF AND I AM GOING TO TELL IT TO EVERYBODY I CAN

overcharge
I was happy with COX, I honestly think they had the best customer service. My husband decided to switch to Direct TV because they had a good deal. But as any other cable carrier, they only offer deals for a certain amount of time and then the high bill come back.
My problem is that everytime I move my TV and I need to get the cable on a different room, eventhough they are local, they charge me $50. Now I just purchased a HD TV and there was no signal, so I was told that I needed a new/different box to get the signal in this new TV, just to find out that I have to pay $150 to change the box and I have to renew my contract, 2 MORE YEARS! Buy the way, I am stuck with them for one more year and I can't wait to get out of that contract! I don't want to extend the contract with them because I got a new TV! What am I supposed to do? no TV? pay $150 and get stuck with them for 2 more years? or pay $240 to get out of the contract?
What are this companies doing with customer service, we are definitely not important to them, they get us like fishes in the water and won't let go, one way or another.
