Lies and Rebate Fraud
1. Representative lied about getting a free DVR with package. When I called in on that I had to fight through three levels of customer service rep. Finally a supervisor agreed to send me a $100.00 gift card to cover for being charged.

2. I filed for a rebate online. Needless to say the rebate never showed up and there is no record of it... Boom price goes up $30.00 a month... Luckily I have the confirmation number.

3. After three and a half hours on the phone talking with various customer server reps and supervisors I was livid. I have been lied to and abused by this company and will no longer take it. Seeing this website and the countless complaints online has left me enraged. Direct TV is a dishonest company! Dishonest companies should not EVER be allowed to profit from their actions.

Since I found absolutely no help from anyone I have decided to go to war with Direct TV. Rather than pay the early termination fee I have come up with a better plan.

1. Reduce your programming to bare minimums.
2. Purchase the 5.99 equipment insurance.
3. Knock the dish out of line once a week and call for service. This is at least a $50.00 service call.
4. Call customer service as often as possible. Those reps get paid and for every hour you spend trying to get your problems handled. Direct TV loses $15.00 to 25.00 per hour spent on the phone with them.
5. This is the clincher, after a few months of this Direct TV may decide that you are no longer "profitable" and cancel your contract. Make it a point to tell them that you really enjoyed making sure they did not profit from you.

While this is a pain in the ass and does not save you one plug nickel it IS the right thing to do! If enough people that were upset took this course of retaliation they would have no choice but straighten out. Companies these days don't care about what is right or wrong they only care about your money! MAKE THEM PAY TO STEAL FROM YOU!!!

Horrible service
From day one Direct Tv has been bad news! I have not gone one month without having to contact them in reference to some sort of problem, whether it be billing, box problems, lack of service..etc.. and more than a few time when calling to report a problem their systems were down! What was more shocking and should have been a foreshadowing of their poor service were the two "installers" outside my home using foul language due to the fact that they could not figure out how to set up the dish, later the supervisor had to come down to ensure they would finish the job! I would never recommend Direct Tv to anyone! Save yourself the time, money, and hassle!

cancelled and billed
I made a complaint earlier about Direct TV and re read it after submitting it and wanted to correct something. Where I said "It goes without saying I contracted Direct TV, " I meant to say, it goes without saying I cancelled Direct TV. Sorry.

I ordered a package deal from Direct TV which included AT&T as the phone provider. Direct TV sent out a technician (contracted out from another company)came out and hooked up my dish and AT&T came out and connected my phone. Afterward a Direct TV superviser came out to make sure everything was done up to specs and found that my line of site was not good because of trees blocking the signal. It probably goes without saying I contracted the service. I also called AT&T and cancelled the service and kept getting bills for months afterward. I kept calling repeatedly and told them they were charging me for a service I never recieved. It took me 6 months to finally get Direct TV to do away with the bill. Finally AT&T quit sending me bills but eventually sent the final bill to a bill collector. When people cancel and if Direct TV is going to offer package deals and contract out to other companies, it is their job to make sure they also cancel with those companies when people DO cancel. When I initially contacted the people who connected my cable (which was the company who contracted out for them and paid the technician who did the work) they told me that if I signed the paper I was obligated to the 3 year contract. I said in other words I am going to have to pay you for a service for three years which I am not recieving because you connected me without a proper signal. She (the superviser) said, "basically, yes, you are. You SIGNED the conract." I said, yes but that was before the superviser came out to check the signal strength. She said "that's not my problem."
Just wanted to add a little note: This is why I hate these big companies. They take advantage of the fact that they ARE big companies and screw the people who keep them in business. They hire people who sound like they don't want to be bothered when you contact them. They are NOT helpful. They are rude.

I'm disgusted with the lack of product and services I am getting from DirecTV
I have a complaint about the salesman who talked me into DirecTV. I was never told I needed a land phone line plugged directly into my receiver in order to buy pay per view movies with my remote. I don't have a phone jack any where near my ppv receiver and therefore can not plug a phone in. I feel I was misled into signing a contract that I now regret. Also, I found out I can't get On Demand without adding other equipment to my receiver and router and paying additional fees. I am really upset that I am getting less for my money than I did with Cable TV. You better believe I will be switching back to cable tv as soon as this unreasonable contract with DirecTV is over. That's another thing. I have to pay a fee to stop my service. Cable doesn't charge you to leave them. I'm disgusted with the lack of product and services I am getting from DirecTV and hope they will change their policies in the very near future. Or I know I won't recommend them to any one I know.

Direct TV is the worse service in the country
DIRECT T.V. is the WORSE service in the country. I can hardly wait to disconinue service as soon as my contract expires, June 7, 2009. They have the WORSE customer service. I am being billed for two receivers I've already shipped to them since January 2009. Yet, they continue to threaten to discontinue service if it's not paid in full. I pay them $62 per month, have been having lots of problems with picture going, lots of FREEZING, SNOW, HORIZONTAL LINES, ETC. They sent a tech and said I would not have to pay for service call, yet my bill was $137, which it was included. I asked for CASE MANAGEMENT, they act like it doesn't exist, yet, I spoke with an agent in that dept. yesterday morning.

The repairman, who came to service the dish stated there is NOTHING wrong with dish, it's a satellite up in space cuasing the problem. It wasn't even the receiver, which Direct TV has replaced a total of 4 times!

I DON'T RECOMMEND DIRECT TV, not even to my worse enemy.

Direct TV is total garbage!
Like many others who have posted I am trapped within their system. My reception is terrible and they want money to service their own equipment or they want to sell you a protection plan. They are simply money grubbers to the max who do not care about their customers one iota. They are well aware that their service is glitchy and barely works at all and they do not care! It seems "service" means something entirely different to them. I caught on the other day when a local farmer was talking about having his cows "serviced". Suddenly I realized just what kind of "service" I'm getting from Direct TV.

I have to pay to have their equipment fixed
I was at first happy to get Direct TV and my experience went down from there. I now find that my High Definition (which I'm charged an extra 10 bucks a month for) doesn't work and I am expected to pay to have THEIR equipment fixed. They never told me this when I signed up. Why should I pay to fix something I do not own? It's bad enough I have to pay high rental fees for the equipment each month, but to pay to fix it too? This is unreal. We need choice in this area. There's nowhere to go because Comcast is even worse.

lied to and billing fraud
first my parents are on a fixed income . they were looking to save money anyway they could so i suggested to them about the cable bill .i talkj to them about direct tv.when we called up and spoke with a rep they made everything sound so good .first the installer could barley speak english and had many problems setting up the tv and the boxes.he had to make several calls to someone . then i had to speak to someone about the billing and i said to the man named luis how much is this going to cost every month.i had to ask him 5 times how much and he kept on saying 49.99 that was ok . for the first 2 month they didnot recieve any bills so when we called they said they had the wrong adress .that was a lie because how did they set up the equipment .then when we got the billthat was wrong.as everybody nows being on a fixed income every penny counts.if the bill is 49.99 thats ok but when the bill comes in and itis 69.99 plus tax that is not ok.after making 10 to 20 calls and getting hung up on and waiting for sometimes 30 min u get no satisfaction and when u speak to the people on the 1800 number all they do is lie to u..they say they record the phone calls all they would have to do is listen to the recorded phone calls and they would see how there company does nothing but lie and commit fraud to the old people .all i now is the ceo and the president of direct tv should be ashame of them selfs because the the people handle things at there company is very sad.if a ceo of a company has to to rob from the elderly to make his pockets fat he is not a humann being and has no morals.my parents are on a fixed income and would do anything to get away from this company just for all the lies and the way they have been treated. i wish that it would happen to his parents so he would now how it feels .this email is for the person in charge but i and sure he will never see it and it will be hidden. if any person ever ask me about direct tv this is what i would tell them//worst company to deal with and there staff does nothing but lie just to make the sale. a very unhappy customer and i wish that i didnot have to do business with people like this
