I was robbed
Direct TV withdrew $501.72 from my bank account almost 3 months ago and i still have not gotten it back yet. I live with my mother and my infant daughter, our direct tv account is in my mothers name. When she got a bill from direct tv that was substancially more than it ought to have been and we did not have money to pay the bill, my mother called to inquire why the price was so high. I cant recall what explaination she gave her in regards to the bill BUT, she did tell my mom that we would have up to 2 weeks to pay the bill before it was sent to collection. The VERY NEXT DAY we recieved a letter in the mail stating that our direct tv account had already been sent to collections(so obviously not only was that CSR wrong about how long we had to pay but she was COMPLETLEY unaware of the existing situation which i think someone who is instructing you on how to proceed with important payments should know). Next day mom went to buy gas and our debit card was declined!! Bank Account at -$400 somthing dollars?!?! "OMG how will i buy diapers, or pay me rent and electric, OMG my checks from work are direct deposited, my moms SSI check is to, its all going to be sent into a black hole!!!"
That was what went throuh my head. So...heres a question for you direct tv...how can my account have been sent to collection...but you still took out half a grand from my bank account for a bill you should have had nothing to do with by then???? Anyway, obviously i called...iv spoken to upwards of 30 people since this happend so i could even begin to remember all i was told BUT i do remember the basis of what they ALLLL said to me. "Im very sorry for your inconvienence ma'am, bear with me a moment...(20 min hold)...Okay ma'am iv reviewed the notes on your account and it seems that whoever you talked to before me mis-informed you and no we cant give you your money back even though you were told be someone else of the same authuorotiy that you could." They ALL said that to me, lol. Okay, so i was informed that my mother signed a contract stating (somewhere in there) that in the event of non-payment the OUTSTANDING BALANCE would be withdrawn from the account...thats fine. They withdrew the balance plus equipment fees and a cancellation fee with i didnt ask for cancellation (its also in the contract that non-payment is considered cancelllation.) I would call and someone would tell me "i can get your money back in your account in 6-8 weeks"(which is a long time when you have a baby and bills and THEY were the ones to overdraw your account in the first place!!!) I would call back to check on things and that person would tell me the other person was wrong and i couldnt get my money back, or i could only have a portion of my money...this has been going on for months till this very day. WHERE IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE?!?!?! You CANT EVER TALK TO THE SAME PERSON MORE THAN ONCE. And that is why they get away with this because to whoever your talking to...its a new problem to them and your needs are not known. They must lie, otherwise how could someone tell me they are processing a refund request when apparently they arn't allowed to to being with???? Okay so FINALLY I speak to a woman named Lakisha who says to me if i sent her $194.11 she can credit my bank account back the full amount (i neede the full amount back so my back would credit the $200+ in overdrafts.) I told this woman numerous times that "this is THE LAST of my cash and i had to borrow it...i have nothing after this" and insitsted she promise me this would work and she did. When the money didnt go back in my account i called again...at this point in i refuseing to speak to anyone who is not a supervisor (yeah, because that helped so much) and the next person i spoke to (Evan) told me (after calling me a liar about what i explained i had been through) that it would be a problem to get the full amount back but he could do it if i suspended my service in order to credit my account enough money to make up the difernce. ( suspened the account that i just got turned back on with that $194.11 after not have cable now for a month) so i let him suspend it because i had no choice in the matter. He told me it would take 2-3 days for the money to credit to my direct tv account and anouther 8-12 days for it to post to my bank account. At this point i owed everyone money, couldnt pay my bills, or put gas in my car or do ANYTHING. So in tears i begged this man to help me and insisted there was something he could do. (nothing like crying on the phone with a customer service rep to make your day...i was humiliated by direct tv...is that not unbeleivable...my freaking cable company mad me cry) So he told me that he could expidite the proccess to 3 days...he gave his badge number (he said in case i needed to contact him) and asked for my phone # and promised he would call me that coming tuesday to let me know how it worked out. For 1 he never called and 2nd when i tried to call him...i gave the badge number to the woman on the phone and she said that unless he worked in that actual building the badge number wasnt worth anything...THANKS EVAN...for nothing. I still havnt gotten my monay back and that 8-12 days that it was supposed to take was up this past saturday...so im getting a lawyer. If i hadnt been for tax returns and the long holiday i worked at my job...at this very moment i wouldnt be able to write this becasue not only would i not have internet...i wouldnt have electricity, a phone, or a place to live for that matter. Had this happed at a less oppourtune time...I would be homeless with my mother and my baby...tell me how absolutly screwed up that is...and all they say is "Im sorry for your inconvienence ma'am" If you look at this situation down to the nitty gritty...in essence, contract or not, and huge amount of money was taken from me wrongfully, and the people that took that money are refusing to give it back. So the nitty gritty is that i was robbed by a corporate company. My $500 is pocket change to those people but it almost destroyed my entire life...how bout that. Seriously people, im not going t let this happen and them get away with it so if anyone reading this has ANY information that could help me get these guys even for a small hit i dont care i have to do something...so any information or comment if something similar happed to you please let me know. Thanks

cancilation fee
My Father is 89 years of age and I needed to place him in a 24 hr care facility. He also has dementia and can not stay alone. I called to cancel the service and was told that it was a 18 month contract. I was changed $80 for canceling the service 4 months early.I was told that even if he died I would be responsible for the eary termination fee.

i was promised 29.99 monthly for choice package and they charged me the regular price 58.99. Could someone tell me what to do about this.

Termination Charges
I have had DirectTV for several years. AFter moving last year, I had the service installed. In January, I noticed my bill increased by $30.00. I called customer service and was told my 12 months of credits had expired. I ask the representative what my termination fee was and she stated I was on a month to month contract because I had fulfilled my obligation and there was no termination fee. I changed my service to AT&T Uverse, which I love. When I called DirectTV to cancel my service, I was told I still had 12 months on my contract and the termination fee would be $240 and all credits I received in the last 6 months would also have to be paid. I explained my previous conversation with DirectTV and was told too bad - the contract stands and they are not responsible for bad information from their customer service reps. I lowered my package and sent all my receivers back and will pay the $30 for the service for the next 12 months, even though I will not use the service.

We experence at least three to four commerical breaks during the middle of an inning
While watching the Seattle Mariner's on FSN (FoxNorthWestNetwok), we experence at least three to four commerical breaks during the middle of an inning and even between pitches while a batter is in the box. This occurs every game, if this is not resolved we will change back to ComCast. It has allready occured during tonights game three times and we are only in the 5th inning.

installation
I signed up for direct tv service. I went over the installation needed in detail before I signed up to make sure the installation was free as advertised. After getting the complete pricing, doing the internet rebate, and scheduling the installation, I thought I was finished.
Today the tech came out to install. He insisted that I pay him $100 in cash or he would not do the installation. He refused to give either his comny's name or his name and left when I would not pay.
I called direct tv, went over the problem with them, and was assured that the installation was indeed free. So I rescheduled with a different company to do the installation. (so direct tv said)

Then I got a call from the installation company (Aztec) informing me that the first tech was theirs and they were going to do the installation, maybe with this same tech. She also said that anytime they had to go through a wall, it was a "custom installation" and there would be a charge. Direct tv's response was that if the installer says it is a "custom" install, they cannot dispute that and you must pay. They said that it is $49 a floor, but said I must pay the installer and they want $100 even though I have a single story home.
My question is, how do you from a sattelite on the roof to a tv set without going through a wall??
I have now signed up fpr dish network which is about $5 more a month, but at least they agree that either installation is free, regardless of what it entails or it is not free.
I regret having to pay more for the same service, but I have a real problem with some one advertising something as "free" and then trying to charge.

According to the internet, Direct tv pulls this same scam on a regular basis and has no intention of changing.

billing fraud
When I decided to cancel my services with Direct TV, I called them and they told me that they were going to take $250.00 out of my checking account. After checking my account the following Monday, I discovered that they withdrew $357.00. This could have caused an overdraft if I wouldn't have checked the account. Per my banks advice, I canceled my debit card as they said that many people were having problems with them. I then called the company and talked to a women who informed me that it included the balance of my last statement. She also confirmed that I now had a zero balance. I was not happy that they took it upon themselves to take a different amount than what they said, but I figured that I was now done with them. I was then sent a statement that I had a zero balance. A couple of weeks later I was sent a notice that I owed another $41.00 for movies that I have never received. These were movies that we tried to order off the TV but becaues we were not hooked up to the phone line, we could not receive them. They charged us anyway even though we could not get them. I told them to send me proof that I ordered them and that if I did, proof that they were not paid for prior as I seemed to have paid for movies on my monthly statements. I never got that proof, he just argued that his word was the proof. About a week after that, I received two phone calls on the weekend after the close of business informing me to call them immediately. When I did, of course there was no one to talk to. No more phone calls until the collection agency called with a recording to call them back. Something has to be done about this company because they are doing nothing but stealing from people who at one time put their trust in them and were customers. I am all for a class action suit.

will not change my billing date
Just got my dish and had it hooked up and found that they cannot change my billing date . All i asked if they can change from the 7 of the mounth to the 18 of the mounth they said no. So i told them to shut it down. Then they tell me i would be billed for eary release i just had it instaled on the15 to the18 thats worng for them to do that.

early disconnet charge
I called on the 21 day of Jan, 2010 and asked for an early dissconnect. I talked to a lady, her name was, Joyce. I explained that my Brother-in-law could not pay his rent and had to move.Joyce, said "let me see what I can do to help you. I was told to hold and she would be right back. I did so.When Joyce returned, said I have good news, You will only have to pay $100.00 . I asked "are you sure, if I pay a $100.00, that my bill will be completely.""Joyce said, "yes". Now I'm very greatfull for her help and we said goodby. I figure I'll receive a bill for $100, 00, but insted I receive a bill for $371.00. This most absobent amount.I would like to know What happened to Joyce as she, "Did quote me a cost of$100.00. If this were You, "what would you expect to pay?
I'm not satisfied with the letter I've received, nor the conversation with your Rep. I would not recommened this service to any one ever.Loretta
