poor installation and refusal to fix problem
After choosing Dish network as our provider we had them come within days to install the equipment. I left my husband home while the installation was being done and came home to a mess of a job done by dish network. They ran the cord along my flooring across the walking path from our glass doors passed our dining area into the living room to our television. Not only is this a major tripping hazard but the cords were nailed into the flooring. They have left holes running all along my floor (I rent this apartment) so my move out fee will cost me to replace the flooring that has been damaged and these nails attempting to keep the cord in place are sharp to step on. Some of the nails have came loose and my three year old son has tripped over the cord many times and stepped on the nails. After contacting the company to fix the problem they sent out damage repair and they were very nice and surprised at the poor job. They said they would send the manager the pictures of damage and he would contact us. A few weeks later we received a letter in the mail saying that Dish network is not responsible for the damage. That was basically all they said, never did they tell us why they felt they were not to blame or whom to speak with in regards to the letter. We have called the company and keep getting assured we will be contacted back and it has been months and nobody will speak to us about this problem.

misinformation
On Friday June 24th I ordered Dish Network to be installed on Tues 4/25 between 8 and 12. Was up at 7, hadn’t heard anything by 10 and called and couldn’t get a hold of the installer, long story short, he showed up an hour late. Sense I didn’t qualify for the promotion they send me in the mail 8 to 10 times a week, I was given the not so good credit plan where I had to pay the 99.00 install fee and pay a month in advance and I could choose from a HD receiver or a DVR Standard receiver box. Always had DVR and love it. So ordered the DVR. So the install guy get there an hour late mind you and he asked me why I am not getting the HD box, I had an HD TV and you have over 70 different channels in HD. He said I could just use my computer to record DVR’s for free.” He also added that way you don’t have to pay extra each month for DVR. Seemed like a good idea at the time, so I agreed. I got to thinkin after the guys left and realized without a DVR box, I’d have to save everything to my computer and it wouldn’t take long to fill that up so I immediately called Dish Network thinking no big deal, I could just switch back to my original DVR package. This wasn’t the case.
After speaking with like 10 different Dish Network employees ranging from customer service, to supervisor to manager then to The Executive Resolutions Department, which is supposedly the highest level of customer service, they all told me the same thing. When I signed the piece of paper that installer gave me when he left, I agreed that everything was installed correctly and to my satisfaction… And by signing that paper, it’s closed the work order and it cannot be reopened, but they were nice enough to give me the option of purchasing a DVR box through Dish Network for only 449.00 or wait and with 12 months good payment history I “might” be able get an upgrade to DVR. It didn’t matter that the installer misinformed me. Felt like once I signed that form I was signing my soul to the devil with no way out. All I want is the DVR, I’m not asking for credit or anything I didn’t already qualify for. I just think its pretty shitty that because I took the advise Dish Network employee that ended up not being correct I, the consumer, am being forced to pay for it for another year. When I called in the first time I asked the rep what can i do to fix this, the installer has only been gone and hour, I can drive to him and switch out the boxes, I can bring it in to one of your retail stores, whatever I need to do, but can we please just get this fixed? I just feel it could have been such an easy switch and everyone is happy, but no. They would rather lose a customer. Now I have little options other than to post this to any and every website that will listen in hopes that no one else gets screwed the way I did and see if anyone has any advise for me. Thanks

Not given service subscribed for
My wife and I were not happy with our TV service and were looking to change. We were told by Dish network she could get her Japanese cannel and I was told I would be able to get 99% of all NFL games by ordering a certain package with Dish Network and getting two HD receivers. We signed up for their package in September, 2009.
Needless to say, I did not get even 1% of the NFL games I wanted to see but my wife was able to get her Japanese channel, for a while. I had to get Dish to change my package due to the fact I could not get my football games; and that was not easy. We had to have maybe seven visits from Dish service people to get things working properly. Even then, the service for HD and the Japanese channel would come and go causing lost shows and events. About mid Feburary 2010, we lost her Japanese channel and all HD channels completely. We contacted Dish about this and they tried to charge us to come out and fix the problem. We refused and told them they had ten days to get our two Dish boxes working properly or we were going to cancel without paying any cancelation fees due to their breaking their contract with us first.
Please take this as gospel. We warn everyone not to sign up with Dish network. They do not offer goood service, good reception or good programming. Be forewarned!!!

Told I was rec a refund, now I owe $191
I CANCELED MY SERVICE WITH DISH ON 04.06.10 AFTER BEING WITH THEM FOR 7 YEARS. I WAS TOLD ON THAT DATE BY THE WOMAN I CANCELED SERVICE WITH THAT AFTER RETURNING THE EQUIPMENT I WOULD BE CREDITED $37.40. I CALLED ON 04.15.10, AFTER RECEIVING AN EMAIL THAT THEY HAD RECEIVED MY EQUIPMENT BACK, TO VERIFY WHEN MY CREDIT WOULD CREDITED TO MY BANK ACCOUNT. SPOKE WITH ALAN AN ACCOUNT SPECIALIST AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVE MY CREDIT WITH A WEEK TO A WEEK AND A HALF. I'VE NEVER RECEIVED THIS CREDIT. I CALLED THEM TODAY 05.12.10 SPOKE WITH KRISTY (CSR) & MICHELLE (SUPERVISOR) THAT I NOW OWE $191.00. I DON'T HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THEM, IT EXPIRED 5 YEARS AGO. I CHANGED SERVICE BECAUSE THEY STARTED NICKEL AND DIMING ME WITH CHARGES. I NEVER GET A PERSON WHO SPEAKS FLUENT ENGLISH; I'VE HAD PROBLEMS MAKING PAYMENTS THRU THEIR WEBSITE. I'VE HAD TROUBLE MAKING PAYMENTS THRU THEIR PHONE SYSTEM, SO I ALWAYS HAVE TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE. I HAD A HORRIBLE TIME WITH THE LOCAL INSTALLERS LAST YEAR. THEY PUT MY DISH IN A PLACE WHERE A PALM BRANCH CONSTANTELY DISRUPTED THE SIGNAL. I HAD THEM OUT HERE SO MANY TIMES THEY REFUSED TO COME OUT ANY MORE. DISH HAD TO SEND OUT ONE OF THEIR ACUTAL EMPLOYEES TO FINALLY PUT THE DISH ON THE ROOF. WHEN I CLOSED MY ACCOUNT THEY TRIED LEFT AND RIGHT TO KEEP ME. I'VE ALSO GOOGLED COMPLAINTS AGAINST DISH NETWORK. THEY SEEM TO BE NOTORIOUS FOR TACKING IN AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE AND I'M NOT GOING TO BE BULLIED BY THEM!!!

If you speak with Dishnet, make sure their representatives are telling you the whole truth
I've been with Dishnetwork for well over 8 years. I have always paid my bills at least one month in advance. When I decided to get a new HDTV I took a look at DirectTV and Dishnetwork and what they offered. I had always like Dishnetworks server and their technical support is really good so I didn't really want to switch to get a good new customer deal.
Their Loyalty Department came online and we talked for a bit. They offered me the exact same deal that DirectTV did without the switch. That was until I got my bill.
They offered me new equipment, HBO and Showtime for 3 months and a discount of 10/month on my current package.
When I got my equipment installed the new TV wasn't at my home so the installer left the HD Cables. When I got the TV, they didn't work so I called their technical department, they promised to send me new cables. I'm still waiting and its been close to a week.
I got my new bill, not only was I charged for all the equipment, installation, shipping of the box to my home, but I was charged for the HBO and Showtime. When I spoke with their customer support department, they offered a couple of discounts of about 40 dollars and a credit for the HBO and Showtime.
Buyer beware, if you speak with Dishnet, make sure their representatives are telling you the whole truth. They will tell you anything you want to hear over the phone and then cloak it in a bunch of other charges. Since its a contractual agreement when you get new equipment you will be stuck for 2 years.

Changed the terms of our deal
I ordered dish network the delux package with 250 channels
I also ordered the Korean package with all the channels
1. Most of the Korean channels were junk
Like a Gamming channel or the Golf channel absolutly useless
2. I changed those and kept only the 2 korean channels (one is a church channel)
3. Today i receive a letter from dish saying
Sorry but were Pulling the korean channels..
4. I called them up and said hey wait a second what about my wife?
the only reason i switched was i thought we would get more channels
Now your saying tough luck..
I then tried to disconnect the service
and they said (opps that will be 300 dollars please)..
So i then told the executive manager
that the customer is supposed to be serviced
To which he said he if you dont like it
its your right to file a complaint...
I asked him look (is there any way to get away from your company without going bankrupt)?
He said you got to pay the contract..
So Dish network is so bad
that once you sign
they can change your programming
and you cant do a damned thing about it..
Dont GO with the DISH..
Im filing complaints now with anyone i can..

Cancelling Service- Terrible experience
Dish Network has TERRIBLE customer service! I sold my house and moved to an apartment - this was the only apartment they had available! BUT it does not face in the direction that will allow signal from my Dish, so I needed to cancel it. Well, after calling to cancel, I was notified by "customer service" that I had 19 months left on my contract and the cancellation fee was $255!! They would not negotiate, or allow me to pay monthly! I asked to speak with their Supervisor and was told, "well, that is fine, but they will just tell you the same thing- the fee is $255".
I spoke with the "Supervisor" - and was told, that I signed a contract and that was that, I had the responsibility and the canceled fee was due immediately! No negotiation, no ability to bill the fee monthly- NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They don't care that I could not get signal in my apartment building- it didn't matter! DISH NETWORK is terrible- do not use them!!

Installation Lies
I ordered my Dish network service in March 2010 through GWDISH. The order was for one dual room HD DVR receiver and one regular receiver. When the installer came to my home, he choose to install a regular dual room DVR receiver instead of an HD receiver. When I noticed the problem 3 days after the install I called Dish and informed them of the problem. Dish network representatives told me that since I am asking for an upgrade I have to pay $110 for upgrade. I told them that this problem is caused by the person who came for the install but the CSR told me nothing can be done now and if I choose to leave I have to pay approx $410 for early termination. So far I have talked with service representatives, their supervisors and also complained online but only to find that the customer service don't care now that I have signed a 2 year agreement. They are rude and very unfriendly. GWDISH agrees that the order was for an HD receiver but dish is not ready to acknowledge what GWDISH says.
My TV only allows one AV connection and one S-video connection. Both are being taken by the dish receivers. If my kids want to play wii they have to wait for me for the evening so I can change the connection. The same goes for connecting my PC to my TV. I always have to switch cables which is very very irritating especially when I have to deal with the receiver that I didn't ask for.
I will somehow manage to finish my 2 years but will make sure that none of my friends or anyone I know ever join dish network and I for sure will never ever look at dish network.

Programming
I originally signed up with DISH network, as my cable bill was getting out of hand. I told the representative that I watch movies, St. Louis Blues Hockey & St. Louis Cardinals baseball. She hooked me up with the plan that would provide all of those programs. I signed a 2 year commitment (about a year ago) in order to qualify for all of the free promotions. When hockey season rolled around, DISH network informed it's St. Louis, MO area customers that they would not be televising 1/2 of the St. Louis Blues games, due to their failure to come to an agreement with Fox Sports Network. I called customer service to see if I could purchase the NHL Network, and I was informed that I could. HOWEVER, I was further informed that I would STILL not be able to receive the missing St. Louis Blues games, due to their blackout restrictions. At that point, I informed them that I wished to cancel their service, due to their inability to provide me with the programming that I was promised. At that point, they informed me that their contract states that programming can be changed at ANY time, at their discretion. They then informed me that it would cost me HUNDREDS of dollars in early termination fees to cancel my service early. Finally, I offered to compromise with them, and offered to pay a discounted fee to cancel, since I was canceling as a result of their failure to provide programming that was promised. I was informed at that point that it was NON-NEGOTIABLE. Not only is this WRONG, but it is also GROSSLY UNFAIR. I want to urge EVERYONE to avoid DISH network at all costs.
