FORD 2009 F150 4x4 ext cab Reviews

Jack N Thompson August 31, 2010
Weak jacking component
Had a flat tire on the left front. I followed the scissor jack placement instructions and was parked on a flat asphalt parking lot. On the second turn of the jack spindle, the "hooked" end broke off completely. When I looked as to how the thing was made, I couldn't believe my eyes. A hollow piece of rolled sheet metal instead of a solid steel rod. I'm not an engineer, but I'm not an idiot either! When a scissor jack is almost flattened out, like it has to be to get under the suspensions lift point of my F150 4x4, it requires a lot of torque to turn it for the first 4 or 5 turns, especially with a 6, 000 lb. truck sitting on it. No wonder it broke. I think that this issue definitely needs to be looked at. It might be OK on a FOCUS but not a truck.
I took the broken piece to RICHMOND FORD and it was replaced at no charge with an exact copy, but I'll never feel comfortable about having to change another tire.
