HBSC is a totally disreputable institution. I have an HBSC Best Buy Credit card with 18 months no interest program. First they added credit protection without my authorization which cost more monthly than the interest on the outstanding balance. My minimum payment was $20 per month and I paid $25 per month on the same day every month. HBSC rolls the pay by payment dates based on when they get the last payment so if you select automatic billing you will naturally get out of sequence with your payments allowing them to charge you a late fee with interest. To fix the issue I paid $10 twice a month to ensure that I could not possibly get behind. Well since that worked well to keep them from charging fees they chose to change the minimum payment. They increased the minimum payment to $25 per month and stuck it on a the bill which they know you won't read since you have it scheduled on auto-pay. The bad part is they knew my payment habits for more than a year, they knew I would not meet the new minimum, they could have sent an email since I have electronic billing with a note that they changed the minimum. They intentionally increased the payment on an already decreasing balance since they knew they were not going to be able to collect interest on the account based on the pay off profile. This is one disreputable institution.
