Floor tiling
First, I am a stock holder in Home Depot. That is not going to last after what I've experienced with Home Depot. June 24/25, 2010 I bought 52 boxes of floor tiles, 780 tiles in all, paid for them in full then and put them on HOLD for my contractor to pick up. When he went to pick up they were not on hold but he had to wait 2 hours, OF MY TIME, to get them. They had not put them on hold at all! This was MY TIME that I was paying for that HD used up due to the inefficiency of the tile dept at Home Depot, El Con, Tucson, Arizona. My tile layer was furious and so am I.
This is inecusable and I don't want to hold stock in this company any longer.
Of course making a complaint is useless. I'm only adding on to hundreds of other complaints which are read by NO ONE. I have other complaints about Home Depot service that I won't go into. All I can say is: SHAME ON YOU HOME DEPOT for not caring just because you are a mega outfit and don't have to.
You have lost another yet customer.

Not what they claim to be
It has now been 13 months since I signed a contract to have cement fiber siding, facia, and soffets installed on my house. I was promised it would be finished in 30 days. They hadn't even finished ordering the materials in 30 days. Over the course of the next 6 months, they had three different crews out here, the second one tearing off what the first one botched, the last to supposedly fix the mistakes of the second. Nothing lined up, there were huge gaps, soffits with holes for aeration were nailed over the old wooden ones, preventing any possible air flow, boards were even installed upside down. I kept being promised that it would be fixed. It got closer, but when it finally was too cold to finish, I was promised it would happen first thing in the spring. It is now July, and I don't even hear from them anymore, although I keep writing. The service manager asked me to sign off on the job, subject to a list of items still to be completed, in November, so he wouldn't lose his job. I did. What a mistake. He changed his story after that and says now that that was only a wish list on my part, not anything they agreed to. DO NOT HIRE HOME SERVICES from HOME DEPOT. I thought a big company like this would stand behind what it promises to do. NOT SO! They are not what they appear to be!

Credit Card
In the last year Home Depot has raised the consumer credit card interest rate to 25.99%. This makes it nearly impossible for anyone to payoff there balance. I have always paid my bill on time and never been over limit. On several occasions they even increased my line amount to encourage further purchase. As soon as the rate was increased (and several times since) I have called and written the credit center to ask for a rate reduction only to be told no. This rate is very unfair and consumer unfriendly. Every month I continue to make my payments but I don;t seem to get anywhere when most of the payment is going towards finance chanrges.. It is a never ending cycle.

They won't fix the damage they did correctly
We had a dishwasher installed by Home Depot. They didn't tighten the supply hose, and it ended up flooding the kitchen on 6/17/2010. My local store has been very helpful, but they have used a company called VTK who have really been impossible to work with. They refuse to schedule their appts, just expecting us to sit here day after day and wonder if they are going to show up. They make mistake after mistake, meaning that what should have been completed by 6/23 or so is still not complete.
VTK sent a plumber out 6 hours after we called to tighten the connector. They then sent a company out 22 hours later to put fans and dehumidifiers in the home. By now the ceiling in the downstairs bath, and the floor in the kitchen were saturated, despite our best efforts to try and clean up as much water as possible. We were assured that our home would be returned to the condition it was in prior to the flood.
The kitchen floor had been installed on 6/15/2010. It had to be ripped up. The ceiling in the downstairs bath had to be partially removed. The fans and dehumidifiers ran Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday - 24/7. My electric bill is 70% higher than last month and almost that from last year. A patch needed to be installed in the subflooring. This meant the dishwasher needed to be removed. It is still sitting in the dining room. They did not plug the hole that the dishwasher drains into in the garbage disposal, andl while doing dishes, we found out that we were again flooding the same area. It only took about 4 hours to get a plumber to take care of it this time.
In the meantime, the ceiling downstairs was patched, and VTK was arrogant enough to decide that the ceiling should be different than what it was. All of my ceilings are swirled, but VTK doesn't have anyone who knows how to do it properly, so they decided they would paint the ceiling with sand paint. When they were told that the sand had to come off, it was not acceptable, they did scrape of the sand and proceed to slap a very thick layer of mud on the ceiling and make the most horrible mess out of the "swirls" you have ever seen. That was on Saturday 6/26/2010. They assured me that they would be back today 6/29/2010 to sand the ceiling down and paint it and that would fix it. Of course they didn't show up.
The people to install the floor did show up however. They put a layer of rapid set cement over the patched area (took 15 inutes), and then went to breakfast while it set. OK - they came back and started installing the floor. The original floor took 5 1/2 boxes to complete, but the guys only brought 5 boxes, saying they could stretch it to make it work. They ended up using the extra box that I hadn't yet taken back, but they still aren't done. The first half of the floor went pretty well, but then they guys started rushing because they were told they had to be back at base by 6 pm. When we told them that they were getting sloppy, and the last row was not straight, they ripped out the last two rows and left. They say they will be back in the morning. Somehow I am not very confident they will be.

My yard is total ugly, disastrous mess of bare spots and yellow patches
Last year I purchased 30 rolls of sod from Home Depot . For the first three weeks the sod looked fabulous. Then yellow spots began appearing all over my yard. I researched the problem and then asked the people at Home Depot who confirmed it was a fungus. I bought fungicide from the Home Depot and applied as directed. The lawn got worse. I was told to rip up the sod and bring it back which of course at that point was an impossible task. This spring I ripped up the 30 rolls of sod, fertilized and reseeded. There are patches in the yard now where grass will not grow no matter what I do. Now, despite another application of fungicide the fungus is back. My yard is total ugly dissterous mess of bare spots and yellow patches. Thanks Home Depot.

Avoid Home Depot like a plague
I have had a home depot credit card for a number of years.Have an excellent paying status with them, they even raised the credit limit. I just rec'd a letter stating I am no longer able to chrg on the card because of "a" deliquent credit obligation, either paid or unpaid. I obtained a copy of my report and see "NO" reason to substain their decesion. Again, I have paid these people faithfully.Lowes here I come & word of mouth WILL HURT HOMEDEPOT.

Never buy thomasville cabinets
I bought thomasville cabinets from Home Depot in NJ on 4/3/2010. When I received cabinets from Thomasville, 18 out of 29 boxes had scratched, dented, or chipped on cabinets or doors. So the Home Depot kitchen designer and Thomasville sale rep. came to my home for an in-house investigation. The sale rep. replaced doors, and two cabinets but he wouldn't replace other cabinets because those cabinets are between other cabinets so those scratches will not be displayed after installation.
One day, Home Depot informed me to pickup an island's decorative panel and skin so I went to Home Depot and opened the box with kitchen designer and we found the island skin was dented at the corner. Last week, I received 15 boxes of replacement from thomasville and I found 4 out of 15 had certain level of scratches or dents.
If I include all boxes, replacement included, that I have received from Thomasville, there are 23 out of 45 boxes damaged.
I have no confidence on thomasville cabinets and I regretted that I didn't do a research before I bought Thomasville cabinets.
Many of my friends who bought other designer's cabinets didn't complain about the quality of cabinets.
Be fair to said, Home Depot's kitche designer and Thomasville's sale rep. were very responsible and quick reaction on my cabinets but THOMASVILLE CABINETS HAS POOR POOR POOR QUALITY.

Poor service all the way around
I recently had Home Depot install a new laminate floor for me. From the day the scheduled measure was taken, I had a feeling things would not go well. In the description of the process, the measurer was supposed to inform me of certain thing, that didn't happen. Then working with the installation coordinator was very stressful and unproductive. Then, during the installation process, the installers, spilled liquid from the 1st floor into my basement. Covering a wall, the ceiling tiles, and spilling onto my carpet. One of the installers did work hard on cleaning the mess they made. However, there is still evidence of the spill, and when I asked Home Depot to compensate me, and refund some of the installation price to me, I was bounced from one person to the next, before I was finally told all they could do was give me a gift card. Like I would want to shop or work with Home Depot again. I'm appalled at the whole service, and really regret ever going to them for this installation.
