They charged me $22.00 for their own mistake
They charged me $22.00 "Late Charge" on a "No interest - no payment" item (expires 7/10) because they made a mistake on my bill. I have spent a lot of money there, and plan to build a garage and screened porch, but now will never step foot in HD again. Lowes is almost next door.

Rebate rip off
I purchased a planer at Home Depot - it had a $50 rebate. It also had a manufacturer's warranty. In order to get these you had to send each one an original receipt. I asked the clerk about this (2 infact) and they said that I could send in a copy to Home Depot and get my rebate.
After not getting my rebate from Home Depot, I called - they said I needed the original receipt - I explained... they said they would look into it. After another call, they said they didn't even have the copy - but the other customer service rep had referenced the copy.
I believe these folks do everything they can to avoid sending the rebates. This is why the process is cumbersome, so people won't follow through. Home Depot ***.

Nightmare
I purchased a John Deere NA 115 garden tractor from Home Depot on 5/23/10.
My Wife cut the lawn that weekend without issue. It's about an acre and flat.
This weekend, she went to start the mower and thick white smoke came bellowing from it. She got me and we tried restarting with the same result. I looked under the hood and found black oil coming from from the exhaust. It was all over. Not good!
I called Home Depot and they told me to call John Deere service. I wanted an exchange, but they said John Deere prohibited them from exchanges.
I called my local John Deere service center and they told me to bring the tractor in and John said they would need 7-10 business days before they would be able to look at it.
I called John Deere customer service and they likewise told me to contact my local John Deere service center. I asked about exchanging at Home Depot and they told me that was between Home Depot and I.
So my local John Deere service center has the tractor. Do you think the guys in the shop watching my Wife and I struggle to back the tractor out of my pickup truck lifted a finger?
Now I'm push mowing my yard again, but it is easier without that $1, 800+ that John Deere quality product cost me weiging me down.
What a nightmare!!!

The customer service I got just stunk
On Wednesday March 3rd I visited the Home Depost on Pickett Road in Fairfax City. The customer service I got just stunk. No one was in any of the dept. I needed to be in. When I did get someone to help they did not know what I was talking about. All I needed was a plug in electric light for a out sidebulb..I bought it the next day at Lowes.

Associate Keying A Brand New Car
I went into your Cropsey Avenue store location on 05/31/10. One of the associates felt the need to go out into the parking lot and key my personal car that was near your exit entrance. Now I have to go to the precinct and file a complaint. When I was leaving from out of the store with my mother trying to buy a fan, I notice all of the associates began to laughing very loudly. I noticed the key mark instead of having my mother be apart of the situation. I went to drop my mother off around the corner and returned back to the store. When the associates seen me return everyone who was standing there before scattered and left out of the sight of the situation. I went directly to speak with a Mgr. I didn’t know any of the younger people working in the store. I had no knowledge of who any of them were. For some apparent reason they must have thought they knew me. Now I have to file a case for my car to be painted over. If you have employees who work there that feel they can key up a brand new car and think that they can get away with it. Well, they are sadly mistaken because I am quite sure some of them have reputations already and they are known. So I will let the police handle it first and I will take it to the appropriate steps to have my car fix. As soon as I asked to speak to a Mgr. the young man in customer service stated he had already known what had happen? So since this is some sort of retaliation or some sort of game being played they played with the right person. I want who ever did this job on the line and I want them to pay for what they have done. I always tell people you can’t assume anything. I went back in your store and most of the associates that heard about what had happen were aware of who did it. I watched most of the Spanish workers began talking about it and laughing. The black workers just look on and didn’t say anything. So there are unprofessional people claiming to be working as an Asst Mgr in the store and didn’t want to confront me because they may have been apart of the problem too. I did notice most of the Spanish females in the store talking and watching me, but I assure you I didn’t know anyone personally in the store. When I went to speak to an Mgr or Asst Mgr. the person they claim to be the Asst Mgr. Name Jasmine didn't want to speak to me? That is when I really knew that these people working for Home Depot had a problem. It seems that everyone who worked there as an associate knew what had went on. I then spoke to someone name Mr. Williams to review the camera to see which associate it may have been. Mr. Williams assured me that his job is to handle situations like this one that is why the Asst. Mgr. didn’t speak to me. I stated who ever the Asst. or Manager is in the store they are suppose to acknowledge me while I am in the store they are representing the store and that isn’t acceptable it is unprofessional. The problem is that no one was taking it seriously because the damage was done. Not realizing they done it working on someone’s property which is Home Depot. I was too upset yesterday to go to the precinct, but I find myself in a better mood today. I want this person to pay for the damages with their check or be fired. It makes no difference in the matter at this point. I as a customer have never experience such behavior in the store before. I guess it is a first time for everything. I will forward my issues to the appropriate person that is why I am asking you. Who do I call in the store for such a malicious act that took place out side in the lot of the store by an employee?

Don't make the same mistake I did, avoid these doors
Well I have an EMCO storm door that had a deadbolt lock in the closing position and I couldn't get the door open. I had to unscrew the jam on the outside in order to get the deadbolt to retract by pushing it in. It started to have problems sticking after the warranty ran out. I consider this a very hazardous condition and I would never buy one of their doors for this reason. Their customer service seems to just want you to buy parts, while the engineers who design their doors should probably find another line of work!
Don't make the same mistake I did, avoid these doors.

You will continue to lose business if these policies don't change
Home Depot, I am a contractor in Billings Montana and when I got a commercial account It was in agreement that I would recieve 10% off purchases to offset expenses for using the account for buisiness. Since that date it has been a hassle to recieve the discount and now they say it has been discontinued all togethter. It makes it difficult to buy items and cover gas and time when my customer can buy it at the same price I can and they expect me to pick itams up. You will continue to lose buisiness if these policies don't change!

Installations
Complaint,
On 5/16/10 I went to the Smithfield, RI HD store and paid and scheduled a measuring for carpet installation. The Tech came to my house on 5/17/10 and took the measurements. On 5/19/10 I received 3 phone calls reminding me to go to a HD store and pick out a rug and schedule installation ( confirmation number 6003773). On 5/19/10 at approx. 4:10 PM My wife, daughter and I went to the Smithfield, RI store to pick out a carpet, schedule installation and pay. Three hours later 7:00 PM we were still waiting for the Operations Manager Eric Oh to find someone who is familiar with the computer system in the flooring department as all 4 people who attempted to help us did not know how to access the system. At 7:00 PM we were told to come back the next day or they will have someone call us tomorrow. ( That is Ridiculous ). Since i purchased my home two weeks ago I have been a faithfull HD customer and spent almost $20 thousand dollars in your store just in the last two weeks.
My experience at the store yesterday was a DISASTER.

I received a horrible service
I purchased an LG refrigerator at the Forest Park Home Depot on November 28th and with it was given a delivery date of 19 December.
On 17 December, only two days before the delivery date, I was finally called and told the refrigerator was on back order and they would have to call me in a few days to schedule a new delivery date. They said they "might" be able to move one from another delivery warehouse, and then reschedule.
I went into the Home Depot to complain about the delay, for which I received no apology or offer of compensation for my time, and was there told that it had already been rescheduled for 26 December without consulting my schedule.
I was unavailable that day, so had to reschedule AGAIN, for Dec 31. I was then called on 30 Dec just to be informed that they wished to reschedule the delivery to 6 January. I refused, hung up, went to Home Depot and canceled the purchase.
I had planned to purchase 3 other appliances from that store, but will no longer do so due to the horrible service I received.
The only thing remotely close to an apology I received was an explanation of how backed up the were due to unexpected Black Friday sales. Back-ups on their end are not my problem, but theirs. During this entire process I was bounced from the store, to the delivery service, to LG, and back again.
As a customer, I don't want to hear how poor planning for the holidays, or a deficient shipping program doesn't allow sales to accurately plan deliveries. I want to hear solutions.
Only one person in the entire process tried to take ownership of the issue, and offered an apology. I would like to thank Ed at Home Depot for his Customer Service.

Unauthorized changes
In 2007 I asked them to take my drug addict relative and her BF off my card. Twice they let him/her use the account anyway..in another city. But, on Oct6, 2009 they drafted full payment of the charges from my bank account with my permission to get it over with. It was a bank draft initiated from them. The money is gone from my bank, my bank (Chase)has even furnished me the account number of Citibank account that it went to. Still over 100 calls from Home Depot Citibank...reported to credit agencies, my credit dropped, other credit issuer lowered my credit balances as a result, denied credit from Gymberee kids clothing store and now (after 100 calls already)thay have a Credit Agency making nasty calls to me. They say the payment was cancelled 2 days after they took the money from my account...By who? They already had the money. Have not responded to corresponence. I have 100k cash in Citibank and other Citibank cards with over 60k credit limits. I charge about 10k a month and pay it off in full each month to Chase. I own my home. I have a 12k car loan for my daughter...thats it!!! I'm a lawyer of 33 years licensed in 3 states. if they can do this to me...you better run.
