Craig Mutchnick, owner of Home Star Builders, Inc. refused to honor his 12-year warranty for a 3-year-old roof, causing major interior damage. We had several roofers come out to give estimates when Mr. Mutchnick finally showed up to look at the roof, finally coming down with a hand full of brand-new nails in his hand stating they likely punctured the roof and he would contact HIS insurance adjuster to file a claim and get a new roof. When his adjust showed up (with him), they asked for MY insurance details to file a claim with my insurance company -- which does not cover HIS roof, just the interior. They talked about water damage on the 1st floor (leak was 3rd floor!) to pad the claim to get enough to get a new roof. I canceled that inspector and decided to take Mr. Mutchnick to court.

On August 27, 2009 the Municipal Court of Philadelphia awarded us a claim of almost $7, 000 to replace our roof correctly despite Mr. Mutchnick's attempt to mediate (he wanted to fix our roof for free at this point). The Judge was quick to make his decision based on the photos, time line and estimates given.
