I purchased a Thermo Spas Hot Tub in 2000. They claim that they pre-test all spas before they ship them, meaning they fill them up with water and run them. When my spa arrived I filled it and started running it, the plumbing was leaking so I had to shut it down, drain it and place a heater inside the frame to keep things warm (it was January in Chicago) until a technician showed up a couple of days later. That tells me they never tested it. Then after one year my acrylic shell started to bubble. I didn't report it because I didn't realize this was a major problem. I had a technician out to replace the pump and he informed me of the acrylic problem. I contacted Thermo Spas and told them the bubbles have been there since the first year, but they said they would only pay 50% of a $700.00 repair. Then last summer 2008, I opened up the frame to restain the redwood and all the insulation they had placed around the frame had disintegrated to glass dust. What a mess. I had to vacuum it all out and replace with better insulation. Overall, I just want to report that Thermo Spas doesn't manufacture the same product they boast about. If you ever buy a Thermo Spas Hot Tub make sure you discuss insulation, the acrylic shell warranty and ask for an actual testing report of the unit before they ship it. Go over the unit with a fine tooth comb before you fill it. They charge a lot of money for their spas but I think you are better off buying the cheapest model you can find. They all basically work the same. Just pay more for warranties.
