faulse advertisment, bad service, Cancel service
Hughes net advertisements are false. It clearly states in ads that its super fast internet yet I have been experiencing nothing but issues and extremely SLOW internet speeds (We might as well have dial up)! I am not the only one I have been reading reforms and i agree and confirm everything that has been said on them. This is not just a problem with my own service it a problem with the company. I wanted to cancel expecting to pay a PRORATED cancellation but it doesnt matter if you have had the service 1 day or you are 1 day away from your contract ending its $400! This company is a bad service, expensive SCAM!!! They force you into staying with this outrageous cancellation fee. I am NOT happy with the service so much that even though where we live its our ONLY option I would rather go without any internet service to loose the constant headache!!! THIS COMPANY IS A NO GOOD FALSE ADVERTISING SCAM DIRTY COMPANY!!! In these times no one can afford to just pay out $400.00 its impossible!!! Something should really be done about this company! If you don't believe me read the TRUE comments of their customer not the ones writing my their faulty advertising consultants, just another false advertisement. I have yet to read anything a true Hughes net customer has to say thats good. I want a way out and until one is found (without costing me the full cancellation cost, I will be doing everything to ruin whatever name this company has left and trust me i am not the only one!!!

Billing/Upload/access limit
I am currently a customer of Hughes Net and they have screwed me over every month on bill and they are wanting to charge me $400.00 for a contract break and I never signed a 2yr agreement. Their internet is slow on everything and half the time I do not have service. They tell you at first that it is unlimited data usage and then go back and tell you that you have a limit of usage. I am an at home mom, a full time college student, and a military spouse. They do not have anyone there that speaks clear English so you can't understand half of what they are saying to you. I found it cheaper to have cable/internet in my house but can't switch because they are telling me I have to pay to be disconnected. They charge you $10.00 a month just to use a little box that they said was a one time fee and now I can't access any website except here, yahoo, and the most important one I need to is my college website. These people are a bunch of rip offs and don't give to shits about their customers. I would honestly direct anyone away from these pieces of shit. They have no clue how to run a business nor do they care about anything more than their money!

Not honoring initial agreement re billing
When I set up this account with Hughes Net in June, they stated there were two ways to pay monthly: by credit card or by invoice billing. However, they have the bills on line each month. I stated that I did not want to bill by either way above, and the customer service representative agreed to allow me to call in once a month on the 1st and they would accept a debit check for the month in advance. This worked for two months. Now they are billing me an additional $5.00 each month for "invoice" billing by mail that I've never received nor stated that I would agree to in the initial account setup. I dutifully looked up my account on the internet and saw where they had tacked on an additional $5.00 for the invoice billing that I never received. When I called in I spent an hour going over this initial agreement while they, like a voice recording, told me over and over again that I would have to pay it regardless of what we had previously discussed. I did not make the payment and told them I would not pay the $5.00 charge and that I was prepared to give them a debit check over the phone for the already high rate of $75.68. The supervisor (to whom I had been forwarded) again said I would have to pay the $5.00 extra because that was the rule! I said that I would not and hung up the phone. By the way, they do have on their internet site if you wish to receive notification of the billing to which I said yes. They never sent this either!

poor service
We have Hughes net for approx.5 years. Four and a half of service was fine had no problems at all with service. Then we got the hn-7000-s its all been down hill since. Our webb surfing has been limited to about 4hours a dayof good service a day. thats not what we were told we were buying. after the four hours or so of being online the speed drops so low that you can't even get instant messenger to load, much less do anything on line. It's ovious to me that the hn-7000 is automaticly cutting my band with down when i reach 375 MB.
Making the service that I pay for worthless. By the time I get home in the evening It is useless. My wife uses it in morning. Not downloading just surfing internet. We never had this problem before they upgraded the receiver. It' no wonder they sent it free, because they plan on making their money on selling tokens!!!

service and cancellation
I signed up in Sept. 1009 for Hughes Net Wireless service in the country near Easterly, Texas. First off there was a very hefty sign up fee, then out of the blue a $147 fee for the post the satellite went on, then $`115 a month for service (not including anything but the internet). The service was awful. Six to eight hours a day the Internet was down. The service number they gave me wasnt even in service and I NEVER reached anyone who could help me. Due to an unforeseen problem I had to move the last week in December and agreed to put the service on suspension for six months. At the end of six months they began taking the 115 out of my checking account again. When I called to cancel because I wasn't even in an area they serviced anymore they told me they would cancel for $400. I asked for help with that because I am now in a nursing facility and they told me very strongly that I would pay the $400 and there was "no way out of it." I told them I was willing to pay them an early termination fee but I thought the $400 was ridiculous and got three people on the phone all of whom told me I would pay that amount. These people need to be investigated first for the bad service and second for taking advantage of senior citizens.

FAP
I was under the impression that for the price I was paying for HughesNet, unlimited high speed, all the time. Now after installation, which they claim is free, isn't. Had to pay for mounting. Also pay extra to outside company for the pole to mount it (dish)on.
Was not made aware of the FAP, until AFTER...As I was using the Internet, and then I didn't have any.
On top of the "price per month" you have to pay additional fee's (tokens if you will) to keep doing what I normally do. I do not download, music, movies, etc. I pay bills online and read emails.
My meter starts just sucking down. They are misleading and a sham. I have informed HughesNet to come and remove all equipment immediately, but all they do is send DONOTREPLY emails.
I have had it with this company.

lack of customer service
I have had Hughes Net for less than 48 hours and have already spoken to 5 that's right 6 Eaglish as a fifth language speaking people from their "customer service" department. If sarcasm, and absolute refusal to do anything but repeat [in broken English] what is said theirs is stellar. If you want any results Forget it.I was actually asked at one point how many days there were in a week as if that mattered in the conversation. If you call Hughes net and get Chloe, Albert, Randy, Lorenzo or Sharon Hang up!!! If you haven't signed up DO NOT

Getting service is impossible
The dealer offers a special - meanwhile STEALS the modem I paid for in FULL and the satelite DISH and charges
a new install fee and puts in a new Modem that I now have to LEASE and pay for a lease every month.
The dealer upgraded my plan without telling me so I have a higher plan - crappy reception and a lease fee, and NO ONE in billing will help - All they do is assign case numbers, keep you on hold and disconnect you.
The bottom line is HUGHES is too big of a company to care - and if they had to be put on hold for the days and hours it takes to get service, they would know what kind of stress this is causing.
Shame on them for ripping people off.

want to sue
I just wanted to let everyone know that after my own problems with hughes net and reading complaints on this site and others I am trying to contact lawyers about starting a class action lawsuit. I too have had issues with hughes net. First of free installation isnt free. They dont tell you that if it wont mount on your roof you are going to be out over 100 bucks. Then I just found out tonight that when I signed the paper for the installer that he said was just verifing that he did his job that I magically signed a 2 year contract. I purchased the equipment. In what company do you have to sign a contract if you purchase the equipment. Ever night we have to reset the router. There are days that we dont turn the computer on at all and come home to find we are over their fair access policy threshold. Tell me how does that happen. I mean come on. Now if i want to cancel I have to pay 400 dollars or take down the equipment myself and send it back to them at my expense and maybe they might credit my account $200.00. Thats what I find funny if i PURCHASED the equipment why do I have to send it back.
If I get any further information about my lawsuit I will let everyone know. Everyone needs to speak out about this. Trust me Im not one who believes in suing someone but this has gotten out of control. Especially since they have been sued a couple of times before.

Fair Access Policy
I live out in the country where DSL and other high speed internet options are not available to me. This is where the satellite companies know they can take advantage of you. I pay $79.99 a month for service, and I still have to watch my activities closely so I don't exceed the amount of bandwidth they allow me. I am not the only one in my household who uses the internet. This whole setup is BULL. They don't care if I exceed the bandwidth as long as I pay an additional $10.50, then it doesn't matter about the other customers that are supposedly affected by users exceeding the usage limits. They say that is why they have restrictions, so all their customers will get quality service. Why is it if I pay extra then everything is OK. They know my hands are tied if I want high speed internet, since I have no other choices, except dialup.
Hughes net is misleading in their commercials also. They make it sound like you can do whatever you want online. I want to throw something at the TV every time I see those bogus commercials.
