Unauthorized charges
I needed a phone number and with online search found INTELLIUS. I paid $7.95 to get a number i already had found out was disconnected. Oh well lesson learned $7.95 fee (sigh). A week later I got an email saying I had signed up for service called 24 protect plus and after a free 7 days a charge of $14.95 would be made to my account. Well I called right away got computer and cancelled. This angered me because I had no idea how they had got my email or credit card info. Here I am a week later looking my bank statement and they had already charged me.
I had to get angry on the phone to get a refund. I asked how they got my info, they said when ordering from Intellius I had agreed to accept their trial period. I know I did not. I cannot reach anyone at Intellius to find out why they shared my info. Who can I complain to?

Unauthorized billing
Around September 08 I went to intelius an on line site to look up an old friend. I had to open an account with them to do a search. While attempting to open an account there was some confusion it was not clear what to do. It was tricky and before I knew what had happened I had been tricked into an agreement of some kind of service where they watch my accounts. I do not and did not want this service and I bet that many people have made the same mistake that I made. Be careful if you do any business with these people.
My bank account has been charged. $19.95 A month since sept, 08 and I just found out today March 26 09.

Credit Card Fraud
Did a one time person search for $1.99. If you do a .99 search you agree to a $24.95 monthly subscription fee. I read that part carefully and did not get sucked in, or so I thought. I later discovered that I was charged this fee, even though I did not choose that option. When I called the company to complain, the operator insisted that I had accepted this offer. After arguing, a credit was issued on my credit card. Beware of this company and checked your credit card statements online. Don't wait for your statement.

unauthorized charges
I made 2 purchaeses in September from Intelius $1.95 and $4.95 and then in October, I have two charges from MVQ for $24.95 each.
When I called my credit card company, they transferred me out to MVQ who said it resulted from a membership enrollment through Intelius. I explained that I only made a purchase, I didn't enroll in anything. They said they would cancel my memberships and refund the money. I am very careful when making purchases on the internet. I read everything. I never saw anything during my purchase with Intelius that would have automatically enrolled me in any memberships.
I also filed a complaint with the BBB. The BBB report says they are working with Intelius to make disclosure of these "temporary memberships" more obvious during the purchase process.

Unauthorized use of credit card
While attempting to make a purchase at the Intelius website, I was informed that my credit card was already in use. I want to know who, what, where and why. I did NOT authorize any other purchase. So you tell me what's going on.

fraudulent subscription
I have seen this complaint a number of times. I did a 95 cent phone number search and while perusing my bank statement in September, noticed I had been charged $19.95 a month since MAY for a service I did not knowingly subscribe to. It was apparently buried in this fine print of some "free trial" which then turned into a full subscription. Give me a break intelius. I will never, EVER use your pathetic services again. Customer service was friendly enough, but did nothing to refund the charges and just tried to get me to subscribe to more junk. Times are tough, money is tight, and there goes $100 I'll never see again. Thanks a lot you pathetic excuse for a company.

I CANNOT believe how hard it is to remove all of my Information from these Terrible money making websites! Why Can't i just call them on the telephone with my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER to have my name and Personal information REMOVED??!!! It makes me so angry to put my name on search and see al the CRAP that comes up, Not to mention they have Relatives Listed that are Deceased!!!((and certainly NOT the ages shown!!! Peoplefinders.com wants me to send in my addresses from the last 15 YEARS just to have my name removed from the internet!!!(Guess i have to PAY PEOPLEFINDERS to get my ADDRESSES!!!I DON"T WANT MY PRIVATE information plastered all over the internet!! Isn't it MY right!???This is so OVERBOARD!!!I ended up on a certain criminals list of people he allegedly gave money too and i bet i know how he found ME and all of my PRIVATE information!!! Why can't PUBLIC RECORDS be left in an OFFice with the proper authorities?Most people that look at these sites are a. Criminals b. Nosy or c. Bored(I had someone call me because she saw(Online of course) that my Mother had passed away!The more i Look the angrier i get and the more work it is to try to get off of these sites!!!CAN"T They make it Just a little easier!!!??????

Fraudulent subscription signup
I used the service for a $.99 cent address lookup. I specifically did NOT check that I wanted their promoted service (Identity Protect).
Minutes later, I get an email welcoming me to the Identity Protect service - that is flat out a fraudulent business practice, and someone should report them to the state attorney general.
