First, the movers were careless. Boxes that were clearly marked 'fragile' and 'this side up' were recklessly handled. I saw one mover trying to force a box - marked as above - into a gap. He had turned it on its side and was applying force to it to try squeeze it in. Needless to say, a fair amount of our crockery and a number of our glasses were broken. Our tv was damaged..

Second, little care was taken to preserve the furniture. We asked for several of our soft wood furnishings to be bubble wrapped. The movers arrived without the bubble wrap. Also, when the van arrived the next day, somebody else's dirty zinc basin had been placed onto our newly upholstered lounge suite, with no protective covering in between.

When the van did arrive the next day (five hours late). most of our stuff was not there. The driver had no inventory. Included in what was not there was our bed and our fridge. So we had to make plans to sleep at Meg's parents in Alberton (70 km away) and I had to take a day's leave so that I could be there the next morning. The receptionist was extremely rude to my wife when she complained, and we have yet to receive an apology or valid explanation.
