I have been living in Florida since 2000, but in 2003 is when I got my first place which the Electricity was under my name for the 1st time, since then I have always paid on time. Last year my husband got laid off and things were going rough on December 2008 I got laid off as well, though all that we tried our best to pay our bill on time. but there have been situations where we get very behind because we have no money, they turned off our electricity and water 3 times, I have 2 small kids 18 months and 4 years old. Even thoughthey turned off our services we always manage to pay the bill even if it's 1 or 2 weeks after the service was shut off, we are lucky we have friends and family that will give us room and board until we are able to pay our bill, but we don't want to take advantage. Now this last time they turned off our service and they turned it back on but are requesting $500 deposit, if we struggle paying the regular bill what makes them think I could come up with $500 extra. I do have a family that I need to feed. I don't even have a car because I can't afford one. I think its ridiculous and an outrage that they would request high amount deposits when all i'm trying to do is make it with my family. Now if I don't come up with the deposit they will turn off my light off again even if I paid my regular bill, is that fair??? Signed Frustrated!
