noservice-tried to cancel 4 times
asked question on magic jack pros.Did not get an answer . I tried to reply to them to cancel like 4 times . They kept coming back, tried to cancel the credit card No answer When I got my cretit bill, they put a charge of $30 on it . That is fraud in my book I want a refund on my bill Answer --- [email protected]

renew
When I purchased this a year ago, it worked off and on for a short time. Often, people on the other end could not hear me and quite often I would have to reboot computer to get it to give me a dial tone. When the service cut out with the little sad face for renewal, I got online to renew, only to be met with some customer service reps from India (judging from their poor grammar and syntax) who said that my "case" was being reviewed and to be patient. I has been more than a month and still nothing. I have had no less than five online chats with these people and probably should file a lawsuit just to make them live up to their agreements.

Pitiful product. Stay away.

QUIT WORKING AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
MY MAGIC JACK UNIT HAS MALFUNCTIONED.
CAUSED ERROR MESSAGE ON COMPUTER IN WHICH IT WAS INSALLED.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

faxing
This product may work quite well for person-to-person calls. It DOES NOT, however, work for faxing. Visit their sight, look up FAQ's.

Selling your email address
I created an special email exclusively for use with my magic jack account, and now I am getting spam email from other companies.
My only conclusion is that Magic Jack sold my email address.

This special email address is a special "Address Guard" feature of my paid Yahoo email account, so it is not subject to spam or advertisement; so the only way I could have gotten spam was from Magic Jack selling my email address.

Terrible customer service
To replace a defective magic jack device, the company charges instantly $9.95 for shipping and handling let it be the waiting period up to two weeks: what a bad customer service! I personally opted for Skype to speak internationally, and FIOS for all my domestic call including Canada. NO MORE MAGIC JACK!

wrong phone number
I wanted to use my existing phone number but the system of magic jack did not provide for that selection..they gave me a phone number i did not want and I am very upset. in addition there is no way to contact them to resolve this matter.
please help me

Poor Product
Don't waste your money or your time... Product doesn't work as advertised and you'll spend countless hours chatting with their "customer support" to try to get it to work. You had better know the in's and out's of computer programming, computer code and your security settings - because YOU will be asked to navigate through your computer settings to "fix" your computer - because magic jack works perfectly - yeah right! This product sucks and should be taken off the market. Luckily I'm only out $40 - most consumers are out a whole lot more - buyer beware!!!

Awful customer support
Ive had my Magic Jack for about 8 months. I didn't have too many problems with it but last week I couldn't get or send phone calls. I paid someone $25/hr. to help me deal with suppport as I'm not computer efficient. After 3 1/2 hours the problem was finally solved. In their broken English they e-mailed me back and forth and after 2 hours they told me to disconnect the Magic Jack and the computer. Of course, once I did, I lost the person helping me and had to get support again. They had to format the Magic Jack. At the end I requested they do SOMETHING for me (I was thinking of maybe one year free service). DREW, the worst possible operator, told me that the Magic Jack was now fixed and he didn't tell me I should hire someone to help me. He said "So, deal with it". They try to act kind but in the long run will leave you feeling hopelessly frustrated. If I had known how awful customer support was, I would never have ordered Magic Jack.

Magic Jack
After seeing all the ads on television about how great, easy, and best of all, cheap Magic Jack was we decided to check it out because money is tight and we need to cut bills wherever we can. We do not have cell phones, only a home phone and our home phone bill was in a bundle with our internet coming to over $80.00 a month. That was ridiculous! So Magic Jack sounded like a great solution. We ordered it and it came days later. It was easy to install and we got our new number, set up our contact list, and started making calls. At first it seemed to work well. I could hear the other person clearly and they could hear me. I could finally call my friends long distance. I thought it was great and was very pleased. A few days later the bugs started to show themselves. Now being on the phone is a major pain in the butt and I have come to detest it. Having Magic Jack is like having the worst cell phone service in the world, but worse.

The problems I've experienced are as follows: Calls get dropped mid conversation. The person on the other end constantly hears what sounds like someone pushing buttons or dialing numbers. The other persons voice breaks up a lot and I have a hard time understanding what they are saying. Sometimes when I dial a number I get nothing but a dial tone. Sometimes when I pick up the phone to dial out I don't have a dial tone. It often sounds like someone is eavesdropping on the conversation. There is often times a delay of about 30 seconds and that gets really annoying to both parties on the phone. When I get another line while I'm on the phone, sometimes magic jack clicks over even when I've done nothing to get the other incoming call (all of a sudden the person calling in starts talking to me when I didn't even click over to answer!!!). When I do click over to answer the other line the person I was talking to either hears music or hears me talking to the other person I can hear both of them. That gets very confusing and I have to hang up with both people because they both think I'm talking to them when I'm not. I can hear both of them and they can both hear me but they can not hear each other. It's gotten to the point where when I call my friends they tell me that they want to buy me a cell phone because they can not stand to be on the phone with me if the only phone I have is through Magic Jack.

Their customer service is bogus and none of the issues I have are addressed in any of their FAQ's. But the old adage of "you get what you pay for" rings true time and again with this product. If you are poor or money is tight, Magic Jack is better then nothing, but if you can afford a different service, then I highly suggest it. Magic Jack is a terrible product that does not work as advertised. We will definitely not be renewing Magic Jack when our year of service is up with them!
