Lack of Protection Under 3 yr Agreement
My 3 yr agreement with McAfee expires in January 2010, received an email from McAfee in June 2009 offering reduced pricing for new 360 security package. So I called, and was informed the new agreement would take effect immediately and not be tacked onto my current agreement. Was also told that my current paid package is not fully protecting my computer due to the upgrade. Why didn't McAfee email me directly to inform me of the status change of my current agreement with them? Am I wrong to assume that entering into an agreement for a length of time be honored for the duration? If they reneged once in honoring an agreement, why would one assume that McAfee won't do it again. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WAY McAFEE CONDUCTs BUSINESS!

unauthorized charges
I was contacted by Pop -up that my virus will expire and they wanted to "update It" I agree to the update without realizing that it was three months ahead of schedule - They also hit me with charges for a pop up control and parental protection both which are for free from AOL - I contacted them and they did nothing - I just want to cancel their slimey service -

Unauthorized charge
Subscription wasn't up for a month and without warning, I get an e-mail saying it was automatically renewed for a year. For my protection my butt. I have called the bank and they are contesting it. Just another sneeky way to get money as I am glad I checked my e-mail. The product isn't that bad but for this unauthorized billing that already went through the bank I am switching.

Worst vendor ever
Had problems downloading product, consulted their Pay Per minute technical support, Andrea assigned a case numbe and said she would email the resolution but never did. I appears that they really don't want to help. I am currently on the phone for already an hour (408-992-8599-which is obviously not an 800 number and so I am paying for the minutes) trying to get a refund but the next representative may yet have to be born. So, for $19.95 software that would not download, I am expected to pay the Pay Per Minute consultation and cell phon minutes to try and resolve things. Mcafee is the WORST VENDOR I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!

unauthorized charge
They "automatically renewed" my virus software for a computer that I haven't owned for a year. Called them and they took it off.

No service
Do not get involved with Mcafee. Their crap software permitted a common trojan to infect my computer after identifying at deleting it. They will charge you $89 to remove a trojan or virus. Their foreign call center is a horrible. They are like robots. The conversations are bizarre. It doesn't matter what you say, they respond as if you said something else. Maybe they just read off a paper but they will not address what you say. I have drained the batteries in 3 phones and made over 20 calls trying to install the software on my new computer. The error message says I am not connected to the internet. The Mcafee chat people actually said I was not connected to the internet while chatting with them over the internet. Maybe they thought we were using the chat with a couple of coconuts with a string tied between. I should have learned my lesson. I advise not to get involved with comcast or mcafee if you value the quality of your life.

Scam billing
I bought my Dell PC in 2004, and it comes with McAfee virus detector. It expired, and I let it. I wound up getting Norton instead. Well, today Nov 14. 2008, I was looking at my checking acct statement and saw that I had a debit from McAfee for 42.31 from the week before.

I had been having problems with a virus that had infected my computer, but NEVER purchased McAfee to fix it. So when I found McAfees # and debit on my statement I was shocked and called them. I was surprised to hear that option #2 on the automated directory was for refunds...yeah, that's not suspicious!

Anyway, before he could pull up my acct, he needed my name and credit card number. When I refused to give him my card number, he asked for my email address instead. He didn't have that address in his records, but had ten others that I had since 2004. How that was in their records, is unknown. I've never updated and given them any information... especially not my acct number.

Anyway, he informed me that I had a Dell, and thatteh debit was part of the automatic update that comes wiht the product. He also let me know that there was another debit for 37.00 that would be taken out today. I was shocked, and told him that I did not even have McAfee on my PC, hadn't for years.

I questioned how they got access to all my info, and all the guy said was that my debit card would be refunded within 4-7 business days and that they would cancel my service. I continued to tell him that I did not have service, and don't recall how they would have gotten my information.

He said that he'd send me an email to confirm the cancellation. I did not get a verification, but a link for a download instead. And the worst part was, the name of the product that was sent to me by email so happened to be the same name of the virus that had infected my computer a month earlier.

I don't know the connection, but am curious to know how 'McAfee' got my information and how long they've been stealing money from me. And what the connection between my computer problems and McAfee's updates are.

Money scam
My McAfee license was due to expire in June of this year. In May, McAfee hit my credit card for the renewal fee w/o my prior permission. They said it was part of the "click-on" agreement and for my protection. They agreed to remove the charge at my insistence but since then their pop-ups have been appearing. When I asked customer support how to remove the pop-ups, they said the only way was to renew the license. So, hit your credit card w/o your prior approval and hit your screen w/pop-ups. Doesn't sound like much of a computer protection software to me.

Firewall upgrade not received!
I have paid using my BNZ Visa card, McAfee for an Upgrade to the Firewall protection software and this had not been achieved because I am still being asked by McAfee to pay for an upgrade!
