Unathorized charge for Adult site
A payment was made to this company - MembersWho.com - from my checking account (using the credit card number) for $39.97 with no authorization by me. I contacted them by phone and found it was a monthly charge for access to adult websites. (I closed the account first because I did not want to give them my credit card # and expiration date which were "required" for a credit according to their website which is where I found their phone number.)
The account was opened by someone I have never heard of under his own e-mail address. I questioned the customer service rep about how this charge was able to go thru since the "member" could not have had the security code or my billing address (nor expiration date?) for my credit card which are usually required to verify credit card payments. He said that information was not required at sign-up to protect the member's privacy.
They refunded the charge. They refused to credit my checking account for $33.00 overdraft fee it caused.
During the same week, I received a similar charge for another adult website to a company called SensibleHelp.com. I cannot remember how I contacted them because their website does not give a phone number or allow direct e-mails. Check the SensibleHelp.com complaint page in a few days. I will try to find the contact information and post it.
