I have a 2003 200 Optimax Sportjet with 130hrs on it and the motor has blown. After 3 weeks of trying to figure out why the motor broke, it was determined by a Marine Surveyor that a bad casting of the #5 piston was to blame. Contacted Mercury, apparently the manufacturing warranty is for a whole year only. It is no longer a manufacturing issue and the warranty is useless. Mercury's reputation as the leader in the marine industry is as far from that as possible. If you can only get 130hrs from a motor before it blows up due to manufacturiing defect, and MERCURY DOESN'T CARE, does it really matter if its 1 yr or 5 years isn't a manufacturing defect a manufacturing defect? DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING MERCURY.
