Microtime -Ohio- Reviews

Howard March 6, 2009
No no no
A few years ago, I bought from this company solely on price alone- I was trying to save a buck. In the end, I ended up spending far more and the hassle wasn't worth it. The system arrived over a week late, and it didn't include the free software bundle I was promised. I was told that I didn't get it even though my original salesperson told me I would. I even spoke to the owner and he, very rudely, refused. The system had a bad motherboard out of the box (it would not hold the time/date), but I didn't report it within 2 weeks of receiving it (truth be told, I was so angry about the lying salesperson, I held off on calling them back until I cooled down...big mistake). The tech support was lousy and I found out that since I didn't report it immediately, I would have to send the system back -- AT MY COST. The monitor was also distorted and I had to send it back all at my cost as well. It cost me over $60 in all and I was without my new system for SIX WEEKS. When I finally got the replacement monitor, it was just as distorted as the first one (it was obviously a used monitor, as well), and there was a two-inch long sheet metal screw rattling around inside the case (?!?!). I had to remove the cover to get it out. Then, a year later, the CD-ROM drive went bad. Again, I had to box the system up and send the whole thing back (another $25) and wait three weeks. Unbelievable!! I requested that they just send me a replacement drive and I would install it and send the bad one back, but the guy wouldn't do it. He didn't believe it was really bad.

Moral of story: Don't buy from these third-rate companies. Maybe it's just me, but every computer I've ever bought has had some sort of problem out of the box. I recently bought a Dell, and sure enough, I was sent the wrong sound board and a distorted monitor. Dell sent an onsite tech out the next day and replaced the board. They also sent me a new monitor and I returned the bad one -- on their dime. Though I used to always build my own systems, it's really not that much cheaper anymore, especially if you have problems.
