Faulty Key Generation
I purchased a license for Opanda IExifPro. While the author of the software did send updated keys when I had hardware changes it did take a couple of e-mails on two occasions in order to get a response. The author was usually prompt in answering my questions.
The author said the key is changed only when a hardware change is made/detected. While I have no doubt this is what he believes, it is not the reality. On at least two occasions the software generated a different key with no changes in hardware. Also when the operating system was changed and when virus events caused the software to have to be reloaded Opanda generated a new key with no hardware changes.
The most recent incident occurred when I attempted to use the software and it once again told me the software was not registered and gave a new key, even though no hardware changes had been made and neither the OS, Windows 7 (64 bit), nor the Opanda software had not been reloaded.
The author informed me he had supplied activation codes for me in the past when the key had changed; however, he would not supply a activation for the most recent change. I explained, when I sent the request that I did not understand why the key was changing when no changes had been made and inquired as to what causes the key to change. He informed me the key change indicates a hardware change has occurred. This was in light of me telling him there had been no hardware changes.
From my position I see this as a subtle way of calling me, his customer, a liar. While the product is a great product, when it is working, I refuse to pay for another license for the same software, because of what appears to be a buggy key generation routine used in Opanda IExifPro.
I fully understand the authors desire to eliminate, or at least dramatically reduce, instances of theft of his hard work due to dishonest individuals through software piracy. I also believe support of your titles and appreciation of those who expend their hard earned funds on your product is of utmost importance. I have recommended this title to colleagues, but will cease to do so until I am convinced the issue of key generation has been fixed or another method of validation, is implemented.
One idea could be if the software simply turned off the key generation routine once the activation code was legitimately entered, the instances of random changes to the key for no apparent reason might be avoided. A better idea would be to use your talents to design another way to protect the product from piracy. The current method does not work properly and has turned at least one loyal customer away from the product and has changed the content of my view of this product to my colleagues.
Great product, horrible implementation!!

Failure to provide merchandise
I purchased a product of theirs called Opanda IExifPro on Sept. 22 2009 and, as of Oct. 02 2009 I still have not received an activation code for the software. Very upsetting, I paid them $99.99 USD in good faith and have nothing to show for it. I have contacted them numerous times through email, but no luck. They do not provide a phone number. I am going to contact the bank and see if I can reverse the charge.
