I ordered a new camera and was sent a refurbished one. I had printed out my online transaction from start to finish, so I knew that nowhere did it say refurbished at the time of my purchase. After many frustrating calls to overstock.com and after speaking to several representatives, did a supervisor finally tell me I would get a full refund, free shipping and would not be charged restocking fees. I asked for this (full refund, no restocking fees) in writing so that I would not have trouble once the camera was returned. I received an email from overstock stating that I would not be responsible for the restocking fee on the returned camera. Camera is returned and I am charged the $50 restocking fee. Spent lots of time on the phone with these people trying to get them to honor their verbal and written word. I got absolutely nowhere. All they kept saying was “it is in the hands of the warehouse”. Well, then, I ask, why wasn’t I told this and why wasn’t it stipulated in my email? Sorry you were “misled” they kept saying. I was more then misled, I was blatantly lied to. The company falsely advertised something, and then promises me verbally and in writing that I would not have to pay the restocking fee on the returned item. Yet, they still charged me and refuse to honor their word. Extremely dishonest company.
