We made several debit card purchases over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday Which left $88 in our account on Monday. Monday at 3:00PM I went to O'riellys auto parts and bought a brake caliper and rotor for my car (which was up on a jack disassembled). that single purchase including the core charge overdrew our account by about $75, later that day we returned a part that we realized was under warranty and got $120 credited back to our account.

7 items that we purchased over the weekend posted monday night and we were charged $245 in overdraft fees (despite the fact that the single overdraft item was still pending and had not cleared yet... here is a snapshot of our account!

all total when everything clears we will have $385 in overdraft fees for a single item. I understand posting items largest to smallest I learned that lesson at a different bank four years ago, but now it seems Regions Bank is holding transactions for several days and then running them largest to smallest, even though the items have not even been paid by the bank yet!!! Regions bank is preying on low and middle income families that live paycheck to paycheck in order to make up for the downturn in the economy. Avoid Regions Bank like the plague!

Because I am mentally ill my husband went to Regions Bank after he had to make a "payday loan" and told them NOT TO GIVE ME A DEBIT CARD THAT WOULD LET ME GO 500.00 OVER MY ACCOUNT LIMIT AND CHARGE ME 35.00 EVERY TIME I DID. TOM IN MADISON, MISSISSIPPI LIED AND SAID HE TOOK THAT OFF THE CARD, BUT HE DIDN'T AND NOW THEY HAVE CHARGED ME ABOUT 500.00 IN OVERDRAFT FEES AND RETURNED ALL MY CHECKS!!! AND THEY CHARGE YOU $70.00 FOR EVERY ONE! THAT'S BECAUSE THEY SAY FIRST THAT THEY PAID IT AND CHARGE YOU 35.00 AND THEN THEY SAY THEY RETURNED IT AND CHARGE YOU ANOTHER 35.00. SO FOR EVERY CHECK THAT THEY HAVE RETURNED, IF THE CHECK WAS SUBMITTED TWICE, IT COST ME 140.00!!!

After completing 3 direct deposits in the past, they refused 1 direct deposit from the prior company. When I made inquiry why they refused the direct deposit, they said, 'we don't know'. So therefore, I asked 'you can't keep accurate account for direct deposit when you receive one?' There answer was, 'no'. So, I closed account. Now, they want to hit me with a service charge that wouldn't have happened if they would have accepted the direct deposit in the first place.

People, beware doing business with this bank if you are direct depositing. Problems of this nature is only going to get worse with banks during this economy problems.

I am another regions customer who was victimized by Regions' scam. The bank held a deposit and allowed payments to transact so that they can collect 105 dollars worth of fees. I keep an accurate transaction register, I made a deposit, called my bank and looked on the on-line ledger. Everything indicated that I had enough money to cover a 45 dollar debit at Kroger. In order to be even more on the safe side, I went ahead and made a deposit for 100 dollars to safe guard against errors. A lot of good it did me.

Here is how it worked. The bank held the deposit, allowed a transaction to go through, charged me an overdraft fee for that transaction and since I was cutting it so close, everything after that first NSF bounce resulting in 105 dollar overdraft fees. Since I did not allot for NSF, of course I would have bounced transactions.

Of course, the banks are right because they are the ones who have control over when they allow transactions to take place. This BS about real time is a bunch of crock. Regions hold deposits on purpose so that they can steal and defraud you of money. The sad part is that no matter how much customers complain of their unfair practice, I have not read anywhere where customers get resolutions.
