I ordered a piece of furniture and a price was cited. After months, I received an email from Vanguard shipping requesting over $400 of storage fees over the $800 paid in China for storage, plus had to find a shipper for more money. Then I was told I couldn't even get the piece due to customs and now they say it is in customs and there is a fee for that as well. The original company, Eastern Curio, never told me about extra fees and I cannot afford these fees out of nowhere.
They made it seem that all was paid for and the item would come to my home. Not true. Dino at Vanguard keeps changing prices and now says customs won't release my item until he is paid. For what??? I never asked to have it shipped to him for storage. Another woman is in the same position.
Any suggestions? The item is held now in limbo and I will attempt to call a number given. The trucker whose name I got barely speaks English, so I feel totally ripped off. These days for us all money is tight and dishonesty in this way is heinous.
