While on the internet I suddenly received a message from "Microsoft Internet Defender" that my my computer was under attack from a virus. I thought this was a warning from Microsoft's "Defender" software service and upgraded for $29.95 to get rid of the infected files. It turned out to be a scam. The payment was made on my debit care and so the thieves made off with my money and also infected my computer which took many hours at a tech center to fix. I also had to change my bank accounts, so I lost an entire day of work. I would attach the email confirmation but I think that would re-infect my computer. I have been warned not to open it. If I find a way to safely open it, I will send it along. I did have a lengthy converation with Wachovia's fraud department about it when changing my accounts. They had never heard of SafeCart.

We downloaded product and it did not work; then we found we had Norton Security Suite and did not need the RegCure PC Opimizer and they tacked on the Privacy Contorls product. The total came to $39.94 and we are asking that it taken off our credit card.

stole funds from debit card

My credit card statement shows 3 charges from Safecart, which I never authorized, 1 for 39.94, and 2 for 1.00 each. I haven't even heard of the company. I would greatly appreciate a procedure to get rid of the charges and, if possible, instructions on how to bring this fraud to the attention of appropriate authorities. Thanks for your help.
