Appliance Installation
I purchased an under-the-counter microwave and installation from the Reno Sears. On the first visit, the installers were unable to complete the installation because they neglected to bring tools. On the second visit, for which I paid an extra $100, the microwave was put in position but I was told the plug which the original microwave used was a code violation and I would need to hire an electrician to complete the installation. I hired an electrician, who said the only thing wrong was the Sears installation, which covered the plug. He drilled two holes in the Sears mount and plugged it in. When I told the installer this on his third visit (still things he hadn't done on the two previous visits!) he blustered on about how I should have moved the plug, deliberately ignoring the point that I should never have needed to call an electrician. I asked Sears to refund me the amount I needlessly paid for an electrician. Although I sent the request more than a month ago, the local store still hasn't had the courtesy to reply. Bottom line? I would have been happier, and have spent hundreds of dollars less, if I had hired a local handyman to pickup and install the microwave for me. I would advise any Reno Sears customers to avoid their installation services. (It also appears that I may have been improperly billed for installation on another appliance I ordered at the same time...another question the Reno store has deigned to ignore.)
