I hired Shelli Van Lines to move my entire apt into my new home 7 miles away. I gave the company rep a detailed list of items I needed moved ( furniture, tv's, computers, boxes, etc) They quoted me $700 and stated it was a flat rate for all the items I listed and included cost for truck, 3 men, and all equipment. However, when they showed up to move me the forman had a list of extra charges ($3.50/roll tape, $45/per TV, $15/per mattress, etc) I stated it wasn't in my quote. He said, "I know, but all moving companies do this. The sales people give you a quote and you don't know the actually charges until we show up. All companies do this." He gave me the office number to call and said he'd start packing while I talked to his manager. I am a disabled combat veteran and I only have one good leg. I had to move because my lease was up. I had to pay $250 in extra charges. I called the owner and by the time he called me back all my stuff was on the truck. I told him I would split the difference with him to settle our disagreement and offered to give $130. The owner said, "What is to negotiate? Why do I need to meet you halfway? I have your stuff. Pay me or I'll just take your stuff." I paid and got my stuff. What a scam.
