Avoid
I recently tried to return a nightgown which my daughter received for Christmas. She already had the same one and the one I was returning had the tags on it, clearly was never worn, and was saleable. Instead of asking the person who gave her the gift for the receipt, I decided to use the receipt I had from the purchase of the first on. I had it in my car to return it and finally had an opportunity. Only, the receipt expired on 31st December and I was trying to return it on 1st of January. The service desk clerk advised me that he couldn't take it back due to the expiration and that the system wouldn't let him enter it. I asked for the address of the corporate office and he reached under the counter and handed me a pre-printed business card I contacted the number and the person who took my call told me that he couldn't do anything because it was the store's decision; however, he would pass my concern on the executive management. I corrected him that it was not a concern, but a complaint and that Target should have a special policy around the Christmas Holiday or people shouldn't buy gifts there. He just re-stated the policy and that they make no exceptions. I will avoid Target whenever possible.

Employee treatment
No employee has any guarantee of hours or employment at Target. When I left, every employee was only given less than 10 hours a week even as the store sales exceeded plan and we were promised more; most people were forced to apply for partial unemployment. If you ever work for Target, expect to have very very few hours from January until at least May every year. There were also several people who were fired in the most unethical ways I've ever seen. You can be fired at any time for any reason, and now that the economy is bad, they value employees even less.
The money that the store allotted to provide occasional events with food for us was never once used for the employees. They also would not even provide water for us even after multiple meetings about these issues.
After being promised certain days off for Thanksgiving and Christmas, we were all scheduled for those days anyway. We all worked on Thanksgiving- we weren't even given any food and were forced to stay hours longer than promised. People were even scheduled on Christmas day. I suppose the bottom line is that managers will say anything to appease the employees- but after years of working there, not a single manager ever followed through on any promise. I really tried to make important issues known to the managers, but even if you're obviously right and clearly intelligent, your voice will never be heard.
After being hired I was told that the store was being shut down for remodeling and we would all be moved to different stores. I wasn't happy but I was prepared. Unfortunately the other stores in the area refused to take the employees from our store and over the course of almost a year we were all shuffled around, losing an extremely large percentage of our hours. We were promised by the GM that we would be reimbursed for gas because of the different stores that were inconvenient for all of us, but even after many follow ups trying to be paid, no one ever was. Also be careful about "punch corrections;" there was about a weeks worth of work that I will never be paid for because someone in an office somewhere didn't do the paperwork and future HR managers didn't believe that I wasn't paid. If you do a punch correction, there is no evidence that you worked at all and you can easily be taken advantage of.
If you ever work for them, be prepared for hassles, disappointment, and the lowest quality treatment they can possibly get away with. The charitable veneer of Target is sadly such a sham. It really explains why so many people have customer service complaints.
They definitely do not value your opinion at all unless you're a manager. Target even cut many people's pay, including mine, in a very shady way. What ever they do- you can't fight it. If you find out that they treat you badly, find a new job right away; it won't get better.

Harrasment Charges
I was hired at Target in Mn in April 2008, I was hired on the flow team and worked for them for over a year and decide to move down south with my boyfriend. I had the store put in a transfer to the closest store which was Slidell. The store I wanted to relocate to was in D'Iberville, Ms which is only 10 miles from where I live in Gulfport.
This is a new store which is not open yet.

When I started this store everyone, I thought was so friendly and nice at first and then after 6 weeks everything changed. The TL, Eric was fired because he was to easy going on the Flow team and was not getting his crew out on time. They are more concerned about the EST time to get the department time done and not on the accuracy of the department. The ETL, Brent who is over the Softline Department is more concerned how fast you can get repacks and pallets done. He barks orders and yells at everyone over the loud speaker and directly at them when they are not working fast enough. He treats the associates like a dog. This job is suppose to be a Fun, Fast and Friendly place to work but the only thing is that Fast yes, but Fun and Friendly, I don't think so. He has people in tears and on the defensive all the time. There is no one you can go to and talk to about your concerns because the all stick together and back stab you. When I asked to be transferred to the store closest to me, I was turned down for God knows what reason. I was driving 49 miles one way because I thought I was going to be able to work closer to home. When I was working in MN, that store never treated me disrespectfully. I could at least go to them and talk my concerns. I am a hard worker and always on time. I give them over 100% of what they want. But this place as lost all my respect and trust. I feel like I was screwed over and I am not going to stand for it. I will bring Target down for what they have done to me. There are other woman who have come to me with concerns on how they are being treated. I have also contacted the Employees hot line and complained but I am not sure how the out come is going to happen. I have walked off the job because it doesn't pay for me to travel that far.

Awful policies
I had a target credit card for about a year and a half. In addition to that card, I did have others and I wanted to consolidate. Well I got in touch with an agency that basically receives a flat payment every month and then they pay the creditors direct. Well I signed up. At that point my target card was not added to the program. A few months later I added it. Well about 2 years later I decided to trade in my vehicle for a new one. They had showed that I had one problem w/my credit report. The target card. They showed that I had been late for 14 months straight at 30 days each time. Well the process that the consolidation agency follows is that they prepare a proposal and submit it to the creditor for approval of the set amount of payment and terms. Well they did agree. But the 'policy' that target followed was that if the account was added when it was past due then they continued to report to the credit bureau that it was late instead of reporting the account in collection or credit agency like all my others accounts did. I called and spoke to a rep. and they said that if I had paid my account in full they would correct the reporting and put it as if nothing ever happened. Well I did pay it off and I still can't make a purchase. Do not sign up for a Target credit card!!!

raising of interest rate
Target just raised my interest rate for no apparent reason. They state I have reached the penalty APR. I missed one payment on time, they charged me a late fee which I paid and made up the payment the next month plus. To top it off, I have a been a card holder for over 12 years. Now if that does not blow your mind, I do not know what doesn't. What is penaltyy APR anyway and would you not think if you had loyal paying customer for over 12 years, they would already know and consider my account history when a decision like this is made. This should apply to any and all accounts in good standing. This is where we get stuck as consumers. My first reaction is to close the account and pay it off. Closing an accounts hurts your credit. Second reaction is to not pay the account out of spite. Again, this hurts your credit. Third is now an option to pay off the balance at the highter "penalized" rate and take it up the ass! Which one would you choose?

EVERYONE NEEDS TO COMPLAIN IN LOUDER VOICES!!! Credit card refrom is a good thing, however all consumers are being further put into heavier debt due the corporate greed. Make your situation know and shed light on these corporate scoundrels. Everyday people continue to suffer at the expense of these fat cats. it is time for these cats to loose some weight!

naught customer service
About week ago, I was shopping with kid at this plaza and decided to stop at Target to check out some tupperware for the kitchen. First I encountered this greeter who demanded to that I my must leave my shopping bags with her/ her I couldnt tell the way she/he was dressed.

Anyways being an educated nurse with a masters degrees I expect the utmost professionalism!!! This employee was talking to a friend on his cellphone when I asked him where I could find kitchen appliances and such, and it took her several minutes to end the conversation and she was very rude. So I asked to speak to the manager and undoubtably doesnt make nearly as much my 90k plus benefits salary. He wasn't very helpful and his grammar skill sounded she just finished the fifth grade.

Anyways I decided to leave the store when I was accousted by the security guard to be searched. I had some double A batteries in my pocket I had purchased from a nearby Radio Shack. He demanded I show a receipt which I threw away, so i held against my will for at least 30 minutes while someone went to Radio to very my purchase and even then they sounded reluctant to admit I bought it there. Finally I was able to leave with the bags i hade to leeve behind intially.

I will never ever ever in a million years shop at target again. How dare they treat a person of my calibur.

goodday

Customer Service SUCKS!!
Lousy customer service throughout ENTIRE store. Everyone wants a paycheck but noone wants to assist the people they are gettting paidther is by. I approached 5 yes, 5 target employees seeking assistance to buy my son a Pirate Of The Caribbean ONLINE game card(9.95). They are usually by the checkout counters. I was directed everywhere in the store to no avail. I am Shocked that these people are USELESS. They are getting paid to stand around and chit chat! I am a Customer Service Manager and I go OUT of MY way to HELP PEOPLE! Without our customers--EVENTUALLY-no store!! I would TERMINATE ALL those people and start looking for young ADULTS(not Joe blow who wants to talk with his buddies)who CARE about PEOPLE and THEIR NEEDS! I have spent SOO much money here but I can honestly ATTEST--I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN ANOTHER ONE OF THESES STORES. TARGET does NOT deserve that much of MY time to be wasted!!Who the hell is HIRING these morons!! If these were my kids, I'd slap everyone of them for not only being lazy, but for the lack of caring altogether. What comes around goes around and I hope one day--they all get it in return. I am sure if they were the ones looking for something to purchase, they would not appreciate the run around, which is what I got!! Shame on ALL of the employess, including the MANAGEMENT, who OBVIOUSLY(AS HE WAS USELESS AS WELL) have taught the employess--SCREW the customer--I wish I could get paid to do nothing but push buttons and stand around! My question is, Why the HELL could not one of those people actually MOVE THEIR ASS and take me to the item!! If they didn;t know, FIND someone who does!! You are a horrible company!!I hope we see TARGET go UNDER SOON!!NONE of their employess deserve a PAYCHECK--A PAYCHECK is something you WORK for.. You are all a bunch of idiots!!

costomer service
There is this employee at Target in San Dimas CA who is such a jerk to me everytime I come in, not to mention a jerk to my mother. He is one of those controlling, abusive types who once dated my friend. The store manager there loves him deeply, though, so regardless to the fact that he has called me & my mother a bitch to our faces while shopping there, completely ignoring him, he still got promoted. It's ridiculous! He would be angry at my friend & take it out on us when he saw us. My mom works with him, so I feel I can't do anything, given the manager likes him so much. Almost everytime I walk in, though, this guy walks towards me as if to challenge me & occasionally bruches his arm against me. I can't believe it! He is husky & over 6 ft tall. I'm a quiet 5 ft 4 in woman and my mother is in her 50's yet gets treated this way by this man. It's so disappointing that the manager has done nothing. Supposedly, nothing can be proven. If he took the time to question fellow employees, though, he would hear numerous complaints. It's terrible that just because he if friendly with the manager he gets to push his way around! He's a huge sexual harasser too! I just wish they cared enough about there female employees at this store to do something about it. I smell a law suit as soon as he crosses the path of a woman who has nothing to risk & stands up for herself even after this stores management does nothing.

Registers
I used to love my local Target until they installed new registers. The screens on the registers can be read by those at end of the line. So if there is a long line and I can't see that "'wart remover" is being scanned I can definitely read all about it. In this day and age of supposed privacy- I don't need everyone in line to know what I am purchasing. I guess they are trying to make me shop elsewhere or on-line.
