buyer protection plan
we bought a dual dvd player for our kids so that they could watch dvds in the car when we take long trips in the car. we bought the buyer protection plan from the target store so that if anything would go wrong with the item we could get it fixed or replaced. well ... something did go wrong with the item of course after the 90 days that we had to return it to the store so we contacted the buyer protection service and was told that they would send out some labels so that we could ship the item out to be fixed and if it could not be fixed they would send us a gift card to get a replacement dvd player. well that was a month ago. i called them to see where the labels were and first i was told, that oops there was a glitch in the system and they never sent them, and then another person i spoke with said that they sent them i just never got them. some one is lying!!! i contacted target at the customer service 800 number and got the runaround there as well. i was t
old that i would have to wait for the labels to be sent again and wait to see if the item could be repaired or not. i was willing to do this a month ago! now they are telling me i have to wait again???? this is not reasonable as we bought the dvd players for long trips that we take in the summer when school is out and by they time they get around to fixing the item or not summer will be over and i would not have been able to use the product which i purchased. i paid for a service and expect my concern to have been handled in a reasonable amount of time. which it has not been. i asked what can be done about this and was told nothing. i said that there was always something they could do. i asked if they would contact the mananger at the store i purchased the item at and advise him to return the item for a new one and that the store just return the item as broken and get a credit for it. i was told they could not do this. i know they can since 7 years ago i worked for
this company and it was done all the time!!! why could they not make an acception? the customer service that i recived in the last couple of days trying to get this resloved has been appalling. i have written a letter that i will send "snail" mail to the president of the company. i do not know how much good that will do, but i know that i will never buy another thing from target and i will be telling lots of people i know about this...

Terrible company
I have a problem and I do not know what to do…It is simple but I am very sure that this problem happens every day to people and nothing is being done about it. Target Corporation is refusing to pay me damages for my car. The parking lot was a mess with shopping carts the outside metal racks were filled to capacity. A shopping cart attacked my car and the metal part of the car hit my car which caused $1088 worth of damage. The insurance company laughed at me Target management cannot and will not help me. Now Target management told me to stop calling them and I am not allowed to go to their stores. I tried to contact district but they hang up on me. I am not a criminal but being treated like one. I have a police report I have a store report and no one wants to help me. I can claim it through my insurance but I have a deductible t hat I am not sure how I can afford to pay…working full time and going to school full time I am suffering.
These corporations make decisions on a person’s faith without sound judgment. I believe my character has been destroyed just because I am hard working taxpaying American. I want justice I want my money to fix my car.

Target Stores, now the scam artist

Deplorable customer service
On July 14, 2009 I purchased some items for my grandson's birthday that included a $50 gift card. When I got home and ready to wrap the gifts and the gift card, the gift card was not in the bag with the birthday card. I immediately returned to the store to get the missing card. I talked with several store personnel and a manager. The manager basically told me he had reviewed the video and that the card had been in the bag. I explained to him that the card was not in the bag and that it did not leave the store. He stated he and the store are not responsible for merchandise once it leaves the store. I said but the card did not leave the store because if it had, I would not be back there asking for the merchandise I had purchased. I told them I live alone and no one had access to my car and the items I had just purchased. He again said he was not responsible and walked away. I returned home to again check thinking that I could be wrong about not getting the card. I went through the entire house even though the bags had only been in my car and my dinning room. There was no card. I had the receipts and the rest of merchandise. I took the merchandise I had and returned to Target. I asked them to invalidate the gift card using the code on the receipt and was told they could not do that. They had to have the card to invalidate it. I again told them I did not have the card and that if I had it I would not be there asking for it. I spoke with a different manager who indicated he knew all about what happened and he also stated there was nothing he could do. I asked for the telephone number for corporate headquarters and was told that the number was not available. It was clearly indicated by both managers that I was trying to pull one over on them and despite being asked to invalidate the card, they basically walked off. I am very frustrated by the fact that I am out $50 and also because of the way I was treated, in view of the fact that I just wanted the missing card invalidated and a refund for that card. Target will never get my business again and I will certainly make sure that I tell everyone I can about this incident so they can be aware that Target does not value their customers or stand behind what they market.

Refund policy
Target has a good system working with respect to denying refunds. To begin with, I've noticed their receipts fade very soon after the purchase to the point they are unreadable. Twice, I've taken my valid receipts with unopened merchandise (one a high-dollar item), and have been denied a refund because of one or two unreadable numbers on the bottom of the receipt. This happens despite the fact my receipt clearly has a date printed on it that is within the refund guidelines and the item I'm returning is listed on it as well. Yet the faded receipt, only a couple of weeks old, has a bar card that won't scan and the numbers have faded so that some cannot be read easily enough to just key in.
I am shocked that this retailer can stand there and tell me, "Sorry, we can't give you a refund (only a gift card)" even though my receipt is valid and the item is on it! This last incident had me call for a supervisor and point out to him that nowhere on the return policy does it state that an item could not be eligible for cash refund if your valid receipt has numbers that don't scan or that are too faded to read. It's a scam! I made the customer service rep enter every number option for the two missing numbers on the receipt. And, surprise--the correct receipt number came up on their register. They were hoping I'd let it go and just bite the big one on my purchase. No way, Jose.

Rip off
Today, I tried to return a duplicate video game that my child received. It was from her 89 year old grandmother with dementia. She can not remember me most of the time much less where she put a receipt.
They would not even allow me to exchange it. They give gift receipts, but there is no item on them. How is the consumer to know which one is which . This is a rip off. They stole from us. Their policy should be illegal!

Falsely accused
I was falsely accused of shoplifting at TARGET store located at 2700 W 120th street HAWTHORNE, CA 90250 on Friday June 26th, 2009 at about 10:15AM. I was stopped by security on my way out of the store and accused of (SHOPLIFTING) having something in my waste band, and asked to basically frisk myself right by the front door. We then went to the bathroom where I showed security that I didn't have anything and I didn't!
A retail store makes a choice when it decides to detain, apprehend and/or arrest those who attempt to steal their merchandise. Making that choice creates a legal responsibility of doing it correctly. This involves the proper hiring, training, and supervising those who make shoplifter apprehensions and arrests. In the retail loss prevention profession, the possibility of falsely accusing and detaining a customer for theft is a business reality that must be addressed.
In the United States, citizens value their civil liberties and constitutional rights and don't appreciate submitting to unlawful seizure and search.

MISLEADING PROMO AD
TARGET AD STATES...

I had gone online to shop this "great deal" and my subtotal came to about $239.00 - 15% = $199.00 and I had a $5.00 target coupon, so total should be $194.00 plus tax
I went to check out and my GRAND TOTAL WAS OVER $379.00
When I called they stated that the items I picked out (5 items total) were getting the 15% off, but the 2 desks did not qualify for the "free shipping"
FALSE ADVERTISING!!!
To see the ad, go the home page of target.com
I spent over 2 hours on the phone with Customer Service that just gave me the run around and excuses!

Coupons
A MANAGER had the audacity to tell me that you can't use both a Target coupon and a manufacturer coupon on one item. That's simply not true. The cashiers and managers don't have the coupon policy at their disposal and I wouldn't be surprised if they make it all up as they go along. I on the other hand have actually viewed the Target coupon policy and it's a shame that not all stores honor it.

customer treatment
I went to the fitting room with my two children to try on clothes. I had probably 15 to 20 garments. My eight year old daughter had six. The troll at the fitting room informed me that I could only take six items back, and that the next time I wanted to try on clothes, I needed to bring a cart because she didn't have any place to put my extra things. I did not respond. I counted out six things for myself. She then said that my daughter would have to have a separate room. Eight years olds can't try on bathing suits by themselves. I did not respond again. I said let's go to my kids, and headed into the fitting room. She then announced, "He can't go in there." My son is 11. She said he'll have to wait out here. I told her that I was not about to leave him unsupervised to try on clothes, and that I was not going to purchase them without trying them on. I told her to call the manager, and I would talk to him about it. She said, "Well just go on then. " So I did. She then proceeded to go on and on about me exposing my son to women in various states of dress to the other customers. I could hear her from inside the dressing room, but just ignored her. After trying on the first six items, we went out and got six more. In the middle of trying them on. She then proceeded to announce, "The lady with the 11 year old son needs to leave the dressing room." I walked out to find the manager, Kyle Wade, standing there. He said that my son would have to leave the dressing room. I told him I was not going to try on clothes, and leave him unsupervised. He claimed a customer complained, but as my son was behind a closed door, no on one could have seen him. They could only hear the clerk ranting and raving. I tried to explain this to him as well, but he said he was not going to listen to me talk to him and his employee that way, and then told me to get out of his store. I can't believe with all of the thousands of missing children in this country that the Target Corporation would demand that a mother leave her child unsupervised in the middle of a department store. In this country a child goes missing every 40 seconds. The average age of an abducted child is 11 years old. Teenagers were by far the most frequent victims of both stereotypical kidnappings and nonfamily abductions. ¦ In 40 percent of stereotypical kidnappings, the child was killed, and in another 4 percent, the child was not recovered. ¦ Nearly half of all child victims of stereotypical kidnappings and nonfamily abductions were sexually assaulted. Really Target!!! Don't you people have children? Yet they claim to be community activists in the area of community safety.
