Incompetent during winter
I'm beginning to think that UPS should only be open during the summer...Been waiting for a package for two weeks now. Everyday the tracking states "adverse weather conditions" or "Emergency." This is ridiculous!!! USPS has delivered things for me along the same route in 203 days, and for less. I am fed up with the boys in brown, and will NOT ever be using them again. If they are having this much trouble with the weather conditions, they need to purchase some four wheel drive vehicles or some little box trucks like USPS. SORRIEST SERVICE EVER! I got no help from customer service as well...

Damaged Packages - Shoddy Delivery Practices
I purchased a computer battery back-up from a reputable mail order house. It was shipped by UPS. The unit arrived looking like it was used as the ball in the World Cup. Needless to say it was damaged beyond use. It was returned and the seller shipped a second unit, delayed payment, which arrived in worse condition than the first. It too was returned, this time for a refund. I needed a new hard drive, so I ordered one from another outfit. When it arrived, the UPS driver walked to within ten feet (approx) of my front door and threw the package in the general direction thereof. This was witnessed by three people, but before the driver could be confronted he was in his truck and speeding off. Fortunately the hard drive was undamaged although the box took a beating. UPS has a serious problem with its delivery personnel. It might just be this regional, but one would think that they would cherish their jobs in this horrible economy with double digit unemployment.

Anyone else have the problem of changing label in mid-transit?
I've had a Post office box for 2 decades. Several years ago, a family member lived with me who asked to have a mail box installed so she could receive mail. She moved on, but I didn't take down the mailbox until recently, although only flyers and ads came to it. It was located near the place where other mailboxes are located--my back yard. I live in the country, and rarely travel to the back yard except to take out the garbage once a week. Months ago, I ordered a pair of $350 glasses, asked that they be sent via US mail, and was expecting them to come via my Post Office Box. I waited, and waited, wondering why they hadn't arrived. The small box fell on me when I opened my back gate. I was furious. I received 2 other packages that were supposed to come to my PO box. One, a package of vitamins and supplements, was in the sun for several days before I found it. I'd been ordering from the same vitamin company for years and years and they verified they didn't have my 911 address, only my PO Box. I contacted the UPS corporate headquarters, who had their district office call me (calling leaves no paper trail, you see). I was told they contracted with a company who provided the database. I asked them to tell the company to purge my 911 address from their system and they said they couldn't--they had no control over it. I asked why, if they paid for the data, they had no control? They said that all they could do was post a note to the driver not to deliver it to my 911 address. This is ridiculous. I prefer having packages sent through the post office, but some e-shopping sites I've ordered from for years only use UPS. Why, after years of honoring a contract between UPS and USPS, would UPS change the address in mid-transit? The answer is that once they have a 911 address, that's what they use--even if it's against your will and without your permission. I am making an effort to order only from online companies who use the US Post Office so that my package arrives at my PO Box, where it is safe and secure until I can pick it up. Anyone else have a similar problem? If so, if enough of us keep writing UPS about it and complaining, maybe they'll change their policy.

Failure to deliver
Trying to receive a package through UPS is an odyssey. Drivers make no effort to deliver packages to apartment buildings unless the intended recipient is standing on the doorstep waiting.
Customer service over the phone is even worse. Any problems with delivery they automatically blame the sender or the person who placed the order. Every time I've had problems with delivery i was told to contact the shipper to rectify the sender who cannot change anything because UPS will not allow changes to the delivery.
Furthermore, customer service representatives make no effort to actually help solve the problem. The only solution they seem to be able to offer is to pick the package up at the nearest center. For most, that is more than a simple drive down the street. Also it rather defeats the purpose of at-home delivery.

delivery service
I purchased an iPhone and it was shipped from Shenzhen China. To get from china to arkansas it took ONE DAY. It then took an aditional THREE DAYS to go THIRY MILES to my home. The excuse on tracking information was bad weather. The bad weather was three days of sunny 70 degree weather in february. I will pay extra to avoid any further delivery by UPS. Fedex delivered a package to me on the previous Saturday. Fedex is by far the best delivery service on the planet. You may pay a little more, but you will get much better service and it will be on time. UPS SUCKS!!!

Bogus "emergency conditions" excuse
I ordered 5 things. 3 to be shipped via UPS, 1 via Fedex, and 1 via USPS. They were all around the same time period, starting January 30th, 1 or 2 days apart more or less. As we all know, there's been that recent winter storm that caused delays in many areas across the states. Fedex and USPS have been absolutely great in terms of delivery; USP is not.
February 2, 2011 was when all of the packages from UPS were supposed to arrive. I paid extra for 2-day shipping. Instead of that, I've only received 1 of the 3 shipments (and that was the last one I ordered, very late in the day). I've also been getting repeated "Out for Delivery" and "Emergency conditions beyond UPS' control" tracking statements one after the other. Not only are their delivery statuses misleading, but the roads have been PERFECTLY clear since that day.
So what's their real excuse? I tried contacting customer support via email and phone and I got were automated replies.
I don't know what this shows -- do they just not care about their customers, or are simply a highly unorganized delivery service?
Based on my Google searches, the probably don't deliver on Saturdays. Which is great...now I have to wait until Monday...

Misleading delivery times and unwilling to correct themselves
I was expecting delivery on 2 Feb. The attempt was made at 2:34 pm when the rest of the world works. No problem, I understand. It was "estimated" to be delivered between 10:30 - 5:00 the next day. I took the afternoon off to try and catch the delivery before I had to go back to work at 5:00. They attempted delivery at 6:06 pm! Wasted day of work. The last attempt was "estimated" for 4 Feb between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. Again, I took the afternoon off to catch the delivery only to find the last attempt notice stuck to my door from a 12:27 pm attempt.
At this point I am boiling mad and call the local delivery center. The first person I spoke to gave me the standard "you can pick it up at our center" line. Not satisfied with that I ask to speak with a supervisor. Five minutes later I get a half-hearted, and probably fake attempt to see if the driver can attempt delivery again today. No can do.
So now a package that I paid to have delivered, and took time off work to receive, must be picked up by me at their convenience. How is it that UPS is still in business?

What a bunch of non-helpful people!
I ordered football jerseys for the family for the whole family. Paid the extra money to have the jerseys delivered BY wednesday! (plenty of time before game). Its now Friday, & they just updated the tracking info that the package will now arrive MONDAY!!! How useless are football jerseys the day after the superbowl!!! The package arrived at a nearby center at 1130am friday morning, but the service rep tells me that the package is in some kind of crate and wont be precessed until monday! Here is the best part! I was even willing to go pick it up, but that is against procedure!!! You would think some UPS supervisor, KNOWING the packages are already two days late, would shake a leg and make sure the packages are expedited to the customers!!! And the worst of it, is now I have to wait to receive the package, then spend MY TIME to return the thing!!! Thanks a Lot UPS!!! Really Appreciate how you do business!!!

Lazy driver
Honestly, UPS has some lazy *** employees(driver) that they don't look into, don't even ring the door bell and took off within couple of second to make a quick route. I was home all day(took off from work) expecting the package to arrive and ended up with a packages slip on the door at the end of the day( multiple times has occurred, otherwise I would not leave such comment). Again, poor service and bunch of lazy a-- drivers. Hopefully, in the near future every company will have more shipping couriers to choose from at check out.
